My son has dropped his iPad and smashed the screen

Has anyone had any experience with getting one repaired, googled it but way too many companies offering to do it but can't tell the good ones from the bad ones. Also any idea of cost as the screen looks cheap to buy one but I won't try and do it myself.

I've replaced my daughters ipod screen when she dropped it and also changed my iphone 5 screen, again after dropping it. They were tricky but reasonably straightforward to do if you follow the many you tube videos on the subject.

I've also just bought all the bits to do my ipad2, (yep....dropped that as well :o ), but haven't gotten round to changing it yet.....this one looks a little trickier but still doable I reckon.

iPad 2 kit was around £15.

cheers, can't say I fancy doing it myself. Watched the videos but I have a knack of opening things and springs going everywhere

If it's still in warranty I think the warranty will be invalid if the work isn't done by Apple. But Apple will probably charge a fortune to replace the screen so ....
