Hi Guys,

No wise cracks on how the injury came about its definitely from golf :-)

I had a little pre lesson warm up last night ready for tonight and if im honest over the last 3 weeks after playing golf nearly every night I have been having pains in my left hand. It has got to the point now that I cant even type with the hand or hold anything of any weight. the pain is in the palm and three fingers you really need to grip the club. I spoke to my pro as there is no way I can make my lesson tonight as it would be a complete waste of money. At the range yesterday my setup was great but i couldnt hit the ball. On my downswing I was completely moving the club to protect myself from the pain. I couldnt grip it and by the end of the hour even lift the club due to so much pain.

I am not only gutted that I cant be practising but also worried how long this will take to heal. I was thinking I will take a whole week off and see how it feels next week but reading another forum where someone had injured their hand and had similar pains said it took 2 months for him to resume.

I know I might get abit of flack from people saying man up but its completely hindering my game and there is nothing I can do when I come down to strike the ball because of the pain I am naturally loosening the club send the ball pretty much anywhere but pretty.

If anyone has had similar or knows what this is likely to be it would be great to here of how to heal it or how long it took. My dad does suffer from arthoritus (Surely not how its spelt) and my pro mentioned the term tendonitus...

I am only 26 and surely this would be hitting me now... hopefully!

It happens to all of us at some stage.
Not much to do but rest it unless you can play through it.
On the range last year I felt something go in my right hand and for a few weeks it was painful to swing - I took the decision to play through it (coz I'm 'ard see!)(or stupid!) and after a month or so it wore off.
If it's really sore get it checked though.

I've had similar for 18 months, not nice. I load up with painkillers and just play through it now. I hope it gets better for you (and isn't a serious injury) quicker than it has for me. Let's hope it's only a mild strain. You need to ice it really as often as possible.

Just took a look into Tendonitus, its pretty much explaining everything that I have. It also gives an idea how to help the recovery.

If you struggle to hold a cup of coffee without serious pain I would suggest it possibly is. If you go to your doctors ask for a splint.

As you all know if you are not dying the quacks dont want to know and if you are, they still don't really. Im going to try and get in tomorrow morning. Have just nipped over the road from my office to Boots and got some anti inflamatorys and will see how I go.

Cheers for your answers guys,

def sounds like tendonitus and not athritic, however, no-one here is a Dr so seek proper medical advice before you make it worse, like the guys have said we've all had it at one time or another, on a positive note its b-b-b-baltic out there so it's an ideal time to rest it.

I played once with a chest muscle strain, I used to let out a yelp of pain after impact it was that sore, but I loved golf and it was a match plus like Imurg I'm 'ard also.........however it took a lot longer to heal because of that.
