What, if you had a freedom to change anything about the game, would you change to make the game better or improve your scores & why?

Me, i'd make the hole slightly bigger. It is, at the end of the day a putting contest if everyone reaches the green in reg.
I've lost count of the number of putts i've missed by an inch, so hole 1" wider.

I'd simplify the rules. There's too many "unfair" ones. Why do you get a free drop from a rabbit scrape but not from a divot?
It would make the game easier to understand and therefore more enjoyable.

Agreed, there are some stupid rules and that's as stupid as they come. As is the one that says if you hit the ball into the rough you can get relief from an animal scraping but not from a plugged lie. Totally bizarre

I make a rule that says if you hit the fairway, there shouldn't be a tree in the way. If you want to keep established trees whilst designing a course (which is a good thing) you must design the fairway to take this into account....eg. make it a dog-leg and don't put in small trees the other side of the fairway to a big one.

I play 4 courses quite often. At two, you see the fairway and if you hit it, you have a shot. At mine, there are numerous holes where hitting the fairway aint good enough....you have to be left or right (when it's under 15 yards wide). At the worst of the 4 courses, you can rip it down the middle and your next shot is a 100 yard bump along the ground under a tree to set up a wedge.

Give me a links course any day...miss the fairway and you're in trouble....who's fault is it? mine. :)

It would have to be the rules. Make them simple, sane and easy to read and learn and maybe some of the cheats we get will bother to learn them. I've lost count how many times people take an incorrect drop from staked trees at my place even in comps. Give them a red or yellow stake and ask them what their choices are and you might as well ask them to speak Russian
