Afternoon all,
I have taken a fairly large step and joined my first golf club last Friday. Now a fully paid up member of Walmersley GC. Student membership £100 for a year, make your money back after 5 rounds, obvious choice! Great course, 15-20 minute drive away and everyone I met on my trial round on Thurs, as well as joining on Fri, was friendly and said hello in passing.
This is after a less than ideal experience dealing with Blackley, who took almost 4 weeks to ring me back after handing in an application form. They called to set up a meeting with the nominations committee the next week. Compare that to ringing Walmersley on Weds, who managed to fit me in for a tee time the next day despite a midweek comp running. Played my round on Thursday, lost a fair few balls but enjoyed it. Then went along the next day, on the Fri, paid my money, got my bag tag and registered on the website for tee time bookings etc.
Next stop get under 100, then find someone to mark a few cards and get competing! :cheers:
