Immigrants and our own on benefits

I applaud the Governments decision to try to implement a two year exclusion to our benefit system to try to halt the influx of benefit tourists. I would however like them to go further. I would call upon the government to also implement a two year exclusion on school leavers who do not have genuine work prospects and single teen mothers. I think the culture of leaving school with no qualifications and just signing on has to stop. Too many of our home grown kids think it is not just acceptable but a right never to work and just bum around at home whilst the workers of the country pick up the tab for them. As for single mothers who leave school and have a child and then demand a council house and then expect to sit on their jacksies for 16 years on full dole I believe they would use contraceptives quick smart if they stopped the entitlement to housing. I believe there should be at least a two year period of tax and national insurance contributions before any benefits are payable to anyone.

Immigrants coming here should get the same benefits, conditions and services that we would receive if we went to their country in the same circumstances. IMHO.

I think anyone in receipt of benefits should work the equivalent number of hours on minimum wage to the value of total benefits received. There are plenty of tasks to be completed, in our parks, street cleaning, litter picking helping older people.

I think if this were the case then a damn site more of claimants would take a greater degree of pride on the areas they live so they didn't need to clean it.

As for people moving in from other countries, if they cant support themselves on entry turn them away until they can

Have to agree with everything you have to say there.

I am afraid it is often a generational thing, with the youngsters parents, having lived the same life.

I would like to see the government go even further. Why not get all the able bodied benefit scroungers out performing all the tasks that councils are cutting back on like picking up litter, repairing pot holes, cleaning graffiti etc etc.

That way they make a positive contribution they can be proud of.

Very well put post , and couldnt disagree with it , on the single mothers thing i have a problem with over here is every child has a dad and over here the dads are either working & paying nothing or on the social and paying nothing ,, if your not willing to name the dad & make him contribute then cut the benefit accordingly , some are drawing single parent benefits and are co habiting anyway .. system is very flawed

I should have every right to go to any country and EARN a living and try beter myself , BUT I dont see why any country should pay benifit to foreigners , if i go to the UK and need benifit without having worked or paid tax i the UK then i should have to go to the Irish Embassy and apply for aid from them & also if i choose to come to live in your country i go by the rules of your country . full stop , if i dont like it i leave ..

Im not anti foreigner or anti social welfare for those that need it , i am anti spongers tho

oooh - would be difficult to get that one through - sounds easy but you would be infringing their human rights by having folks do this sort of thing as it would identify and stigmatise them for being unemployed
