in fact money is a concern and I have to work but will still get proper fitted and play more golf now the kiddy winks are getting older. I actually looked into residential schools for a sort of fast track but decided against.
As what G1BBO said, I am in exactly the same boat. No money and no time at the moment. I do intend to get fitted proper at some stage , and I would love to do a residential course.
If money was no object I wouldn't be anywhere near a golf course or clubs. I wouldn't want to get out of the jacuzzi that would be filled with a bevvy of scantily clad blondes..money no object you can stick golf
Get fitted for what swing? The monday one, Tuesday one etc etc. There is only so much a fitter can do for us amateurs. I would use any clubs as long as I was ingraining a decent swing... Then get fitted.
Money and time no option I'd hire a game and mental coach, a caddy and have my clubs custom fitted and then change them every 2 weeks when they stop working - coz with all that expense it simply must be the clubs - can't possibly be me at fault!?! - Can it?
I'd go straight to the Ping Fitting Centre in Gainsborough and get fully custom-fit with all the latest gear. Then it would be straight off to the Belfry to make full use of their practice facilities and get some lessons from the PGA qualified pros.
I often wonder if top coaches are at the top because they are better than other coaches or because they are well connected or 'got lucky' in having a talented youngster work with them. That said I'd like to work with Gary Smith: infectious enthusiasm and makes it all simple.
In answer to your question Tim I'd probably play and practice more often. I think if I could practice every day, play 3/4 rounds per week at a variety of courses I'd be onto a winner.
I would grab my clubs, get on a plane and crawl around the world playing any course I could find. Sod the improving, it would be the experiences that I would be looking for
I don't think I'd play much more than I do now. I get "golfed out" if I play more than 3 days in a row.
Plus it ain't much fun practicing or playing on your own. I've been on gardening leave for the last month and a midweek trip to the club meant being the youngest person on the course by 25years+.
But then if money was no object you could pay someone to be your full time golf buddy I s'pose.
