Idiots, Scum, Morons.....

Sad to see and clearly it looks like an ex member with a very big grudge

They should put an article in the local paper surely someone must know who it is.

Also a great chance to show true spirit and let them know that it has helped them to kickstart a greens programme and it happened at the time in the yar where it has had little impact.

Then put a couple of those night vision cameras you can hire in weather proof boxes that are triggered by movement. You can get cameras that have good infra red vision that contain a sim to send images 3/4g to remote computer, if there are members close by willing to hoof the culprit get down make a citizens arrest or just smash there car up while they trash the green, then beat them too

I love how considered and calm your post starts before gradually getting more aggressive and confrontational! Brilliant stuff, sir!

Not as bad as it seems at first look. Was there anything in the grave?

Was it just the one green they trashed? If it was, you were lucky. About 2 years ago someone dug up 13 (or 14, I don't recall exactly) of our greens. Luckily for us, they left all the sods lying by the holes which could be put back jigsaw-fashion. After about 6 weeks they were back in good shape.

We also concluded that the perpetrators were probably not golfers, as they specifically dug up small areas (say 2ft square) around the cups. Probably had no idea that we could just move the holes elsewhere on the greens. (Seems many non-golfers don't know the hole moves - it certainly surprised my sister-in-law!)

The thing I find with idiots is that they don't need a reason. A few years ago vandals burnt down my football teams club house which meant we had to drop our junior team, no reason behind it they just knew it'd be difficult to catch them. And with the golf side our practice ground Is next to the main road and quite often people will honk or shout. They must think its comedy gold!
Unfortunately some morons just do things because they can get away with it. Anyone worth their salt will hopefully grass them up and have them done by the authorities.

I would lay the blame more than likely a bunch of local kids with nothing better to do, trying to be funny/morbid. I don't know the club at all, is that green fairly accessible?

Not for passing traffic. It is the 3rd green, which you can access off a single track that is about 1/2 mile from the main road and does not really lead to anywhere. You then need to hope over a fence and go through the undergrowth / trees to get to the green. Certainly not just a passing looney who saw the green and thought he would have some 'fun'.

No, but sounds prime for some kids out on their bikes up to no good.

Moronic crime. It's obviously someone who in the past year has left the club as a playing member or staff member.

That should whittle the numbers down.

From there, the police would simply make inquiries as to the nature of their departure. That should give them a very short list of suspects.

Yes, that's what should happen. Sadly, it won't. In the real world it's not actually a very serious crime and unless they are having a particularly quiet week my guess would be that there's no way police will do anything other than note down the details.

Surly not just random kids, it does smack of someone who came tooled to do the damage for a reason.

Hunting type cameras is what I would do as its the 3rd attach. The type of thing that starts recording on movement and works at night. I have seen them on some random Moonshine programs and the like. Maybe you can hire them and put one on each green.

How do the Police respond. My guess is they are not overly making it top priority?
