I organise an annual “ryder cup” style team competition with 2 x teams of 8 people each.

We usually have the following format:
Day 1 – Foursomes (am) followed by Fourballs
Day 2 – Fourballs
Day 3 – singles
All the above are on a matchplay basis (handicaps)

There is a possibility that I may be one player short this year and so face a match of 8 v 7.

Does anybody have any good suggestions to get around this in the fairest way to both teams but ensuring that everyone plays?

thanks

Worst score on day two gets dropped but can caddy for a team mate so still taking part  That'll get them concentrating :)

We do the same and are short too.

We are playing foursomes in the morning and the single plays against two - no problem - he plays of 7/8 handicap as he is playing all the shots. The opposition play half their combined v his 7/8.

In the fourballs the single plays two singles matches against two players.

We have one player turning up to even the sides on singles day
