ICT or Barnsley

Barnsley are a much much much much bigger outfit than ICT, he will be offski.

Craw, I was meaning Bradford and Barnsley......they always seem to be in the same league.

I think Butcher likes living in Scotland so I would not be surprised if he turns it down, especially as he was not first choice.
Anyone who takes ICT to second in the SPL must know a thing or two about fitba.
I watched the great Ipswich team in the early 1980's. They played superb football with Butcher and Russell Osman a fantastic central defence partnership, almost as good as Miller and McLeish.

So to manage ICT in the SPL or manage Barnsley in the championship. No competition gotta be off to Barnsley to manage a club in a much better and more competitive division.

Would have said the opposite. Manage a struggling second division side with no real prospects, or a top division side who have a chance at two cup finals, and best ever league placing/UEFA Cup spot.

Plus, add in quality of life - No brainer staying

ICT will NOT finish second nor will they win anything! They can't and won't go any further than they currently are. Barnsley on the other hand are a much bigger outfit and can progress.

Having a CV that say's he did pretty well managing in the SPL isn't going to cut the mustard when a significantly bigger managerial job comes along - 'you did well in the diddy SPL - at a time when Servco were playing in the lower leagues?'

Get ICT in Europe. Win a couple of European ties; that's worth having on your CV as it can't be dismissed quite so easily.

Looks to me like he is off to organise a pay rise at ICT.
He has some good youngsters there and I would imagine that they will be in Europe next year.
...where as Barnsley will probably be playing Accrington Stanley and Burton Albion.

They have one great player in Andrew Shinnie who is out of contract at the end of the season and can talk to clubs now. I'm confident that ICT will not qualify for Europe.

I would hardly call the opportunity of playing in Europe pointless.
When was the last time Barnsley managed that.
He is building something new at ICT whereas Barnsley is a dead duck.

Problem with Barnsley is that you are always likely to get the chop (oops)

BTW @Fader - in what way is the SPL pointless? I certanly don't get your point on that one.

Its pointless as we're run by old farts and muppets who don't give a hoot about the common working man and continue to run Scottish Football in a way that benefits them and their agendas. Scottish football is a laughing stock anywhere other than Scotland.
