Why is it that most of the panelist think they know how to play the game better than the person in that Competition ..

A player came under for some serious slating and this player had won plently as an amature He was of spanish Origin
I cannot mind his name at this moment possibly you on here will know whom am talking about .. It was ethier fri/sat night I was watching Sky sports what ever channel in the work when I seen this ...

If that so called expert where any good they would be out competing instead of slating a player ..

IMO unjustified and improper behaviour of a golf coach who look younger than me .. and am 36

This is typical of all sports. There are so many so called "Pundits" who comment on sports who haven't got a clue.
"Those who can, do. While those who can't, teach"

I assume this was Simon Holmes talking about Pablo Martin.

Holmes is a well known coach who has probably earned the right to comment on players swings. Martin is a player of whom more has been expected before now, so since he was leading the event, it is not surprising Holmes was asked to comment on his swing.

Leadbetter, Harmon and Haney were not prolific winners, yet are trusted by the world's top players. You don't have to have been a great player to be a great coach. See also Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger etc.

If it was 'Golf Night' you were watching, which is a highlights, analysis and golf news show, what exactly did you expect??

Simon Holmes/ Dennis Pugh, Mark Roe, Rob Lee, Tim Barter etc are all either very experienced ex Tour Pros or well respected Tour coaches or both. If you listen to them properly they always fall over themselves with immense admiration for any player who competes on the tour because they have been there, seen it, done it and know how good these guys are.

If there was a guy in my Saturday 4ball who putted like Martin, I couldn't watch him because it would give me shivers. Hooking every putt in out of the neck isn't good to watch.

Re: I was watching Euro tour ...

Good point ethan,i have to agree,a lot of people know what to do and can tell others how to do it but cant do it themselves. Most of the players that play in a tounament have the raw ability to win the tournament, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty they bottle it,it doesnt matter if youve got the best swing ever if you cant handle pressure it can all go too pieces,as we all know even walking on the first tee with the four ball behind watching generally most players are nervous and get tense, and as we all know tension is a killer

Sorry Clive - I know its a well known quote but its highly derogatory to teachers in all industries - I can drive cars and I can teach people to drive them!
Yes there are poor teachers out there but the majority are more than capable. Had any lessons from a Pro recently? I bet he's not on Tour so he obviously "can't"..

Would you rather they sat and said "they are far to good for us" and said nothing about it.

IMO the golf night pundits are top drawer and worth listening to
