How the hell do folk get the "Tour Only" versions, before some bright spark says eBay what's the craic with them do you get say Rory Mcilroy giving one to his best mate then his mate sells it to his mate in Auchterarder then he punts it on EBay for 6k??? Or do they just slip out the boot of the Tour reps Mondeo?
I know a guy who lives fairly local to me that plays on the European Tour, he uses an Odyssey putter - if he gave me his new Metal x no 5 or whatever 1, I'd never dream of punting it on eBay 2, I'd be worried likes of Callaway/odyssey got wind of it.

Scottjd

I don't think anyone is missing the point.
In a few years time the 'in' putter may be a Monty Goldeneye [I just made that up before someone tries to buy one].
Scotties will be the thing of the past and therefore of little interest.

Im not saying you are wrong but you cannot be 100% sure that they will be of little interest/thing of the past. Things can for whatever reason be iconic/rare/desireable to many people.

I followed him a and he has continually come up with popular, (overpriced) retail models and backed them up with tour only / limited edition designs. Many of the headcovers alone reach in the £000's.

You might not agree or think its just a fad. I happen to disagree and can see why people with cash would like to invest, its a risk but I would say they are on to a winner.

By the way I have googled the Monty Goldeneye and it doesnt exist!!!:ears:

Hehe I'm not worried about the £6k it's the £10 that's shocking!

£10 for postage. i hope it doesn't go missing, sounds like £10 is the standard royal mail service, insurance cover up to £40

i don't think the seller has thought this through

It is pretty easy to get Tour Only if you know how, and have the resources. You can get putters authenticated by Cameron to prove that they are Tour putters.

Funnily enough, I had one of Rory's, a Del Mar 3.5 with 'RM' stamped on it which he gave to a club mate who sold it to me. I later sold it for more than I paid for it. Not 6k, but a pretty penny. I spoke to Rory at a Tour event and told him I had it and he said he was sorry he gave it away!

I also have a 2-ball owned by a multiple major winner - it came directly to me from him - but it looks exactly the same as a retail one except for a code number placed on it by Callaway. It would never fetch the same money as a collectible Cameron.

Cheers Ethan, didn't think you'd be far away as I knew you used to collect SC's.
Interesting one, eBay seems to be swamped with them at times.
