But after getting back from A&E at 5am this morning I am back on crutches.

Damaged 3 ankle ligaments (pretty much a whopping great big Sprained Ankle) and just as the weather is starting to pick up, 2 weeks on crutches, 6 weeks without sport… :(

If only I had a decent excuse… bear fighting, drunken brawl… no I dropped down from a 1ft wall… :o

Typical…

Silly accidents like that, especially "small" ones can cause huge damage.
I tripped off the door step in '04, shattered my right ankle and was in a cast for 10 weeks, with no load bearing.
Then another op to remove the screw that was holding my heel together so another week laid-up.
Back to work after nearly 4 months
Back to Golf a year after it happened.

My comiserations.

Just ask HID. She managed to fall down the stairs and fracture her coccyx. Two weeks on and still in dire agony. Bum cheek still 30 shades of yellow and purple as the bruisng comes out. The co-codamol or whatever the Dr gave are taking the edge off the pain and nothing more. Painful to stand, painful to sit. She only went down 5 or so stairs and didn't even make the bottom one

I'm never injured

..... that said i just remembered one for the list... 2 yrs ago I hit my left 'pointy' finger with a hammer and had to change from interlocking to vardon grip as a result (still vardon now)........ crikey........... I'm a friggin' injury magnet

If you were a horse you'd be glue by now - they'd have shot you years ago and put you out of your misery

i jumped into a swimming pool at the shallow end so about 1meter and fractured my ankle 6 weeks in cast and was never quite right for a few years afterwards

Unlucky for you, although just take it steady I have done it twice and had differing experiences.

First time I done it 3 years ago, come up like a golf ball on the side of my ankle, got given crutches told stay off of it for 2 weeks no sport for 6 weeks, rest up. After 7 days I chucked the crutches and was back playing football within 3 weeks with very little pain.

Second time happened in October, went up to the hospital told no crutches keep putting weight through it you will be back training in 2 weeks. Took me 3 weeks to put full weight through it and still cant do much without it hurting after a little while. I am due to go back to the doctors soon to get it checked out again as its not right at all.

Keep your head up and hope its a good recovery and you will be back in no time.

25 years ago I had a really bad ankle injury when I stepped off level ground and twisted as the edge of my foot slipped into a 2" drainage channel whilst working on a car wash. I can still hear the sound that my ankle made as the tendon strained that bit too far

Worst part was my wife was somehow passed a message from my workmate George saying I had fallen backwards into a pit and he didn't know how bad the damage was :o
