I played at Sherfield Oaks and played the best I ever have - giving me a handicap of 23.0 down from 28 just in time for the summer swing.

I left the driver in the bag for most of the round, as my irons were going pretty well. I had a few wayward shots, but got them back in play on the next shot. All of my bunker shots came out first time. Although I had a few 3 putts which I plan to get rid of before the swing.

I was aiming from 26 after the first 3 cards - then 20 by the end of the year, but now the hard work begins?!

I have managed to get my iron swing back on track but with 80% direction accuracy, so I have this to work on too.. I was much happier taking an iron instead of the driver.. another dude followed my lead too..

Oh - and I more importantly I didn't lose one ball on any of the rounds!!

u cant avoid the driver for to long!! Having the mental barrier of leaving the driver in the bag and then getting over it will benifit your game no end!!

I can hit the driver relatively well and didn't avoid it the whole day - just on the tight fairways or when I didn't really need it, I didn't see the point of using the driver and a 9 iron for the 300 yarder when two irons would do the job with less of a chance of slicing the ball..

If the driver is one of the hardest clubs to use, then why use it if you don't need to?

Just good course management in my eyes...
