Ruined my round yesterday when I lost my footing twice and had several putts bobble due to the remnants of an early frost.

I had so been looking forward to my round on Sunday as I had been working hard on a subtle swing change during the week and had it nailed thanks to hitting 700 balls at the range between Wed-Sat and 2 x 9 hole on course sessions Fri & Sat.

Saturday was absolutely perfect scoring conditions and the course was immaculate as I played my 9 holes warm up session before my qualifying Winter League round on Sunday....I went round in level gross for the 9 holes. I was also starting to hear of some great scores that were coming in during the Saturday Winter League including a 2 under gross round..............so naturally I was excited about the Sunday round as conditions were supposed to be even better.....

Sunday morning came and I was like a kid in a candy store, until I opened the curtains and saw a white covering in the fields outside my bedroom window!!!!!!!!! Noooooooo!

Got up to the club and sure enough, there was a sprinkling of white all around.......not enough to freeze the greens or close the course, and the sun was out, so it would melt soon anyway.......

Just to compound the problem I was drawn out 1st in our swindle, so had to go out before the sun got chance to burn it off.

There were no later tee times available so I had no choice but to go out early.
Out on the course my worst fears were realised and early on it was a nightmare......putting was a lottery, and I slipped twice on my down swing, even though I was regularly clearing the build up of ice on my shoes.

only managed 31 points and got 0.1 back for my troubles.
Looking at the scores there was a 40 and a 38, (both went out later), and then 34 was the closest.

Looking at the Saturday scores, there were 2 x 42's a 41, 2 x 40's a 39, 3 x 38's and a 37...........

What a difference a day makes!!!!:(

At least you got out before all the ice indentations were put on the greens.
As the ice melts you can see all the imprints made by the players who go out early.
Why dont the greens get swept before the comps start.
The same happened up our course recently, before a good comp.
Ice,leaves and twigs everywhere.

Weird, I went out for 9 holes at my usual par 3 course in Cambridge, shot two over with two birdies for 9 holes on a frosty course, I was the first person out infact.

Teeing off on mats was a slippery affair and I had to clean out my shoes before every tee shot.

I like frosty conditions :)

I prefer The Killing anyway, can't be doing with all the 'lovely jubley' every time he catches a criminal.

What course is that mate? I'm not too far from Cambridge and fancy a little par 3 every now and then.

I was all set for my grand return to the course on Sunday and prepared for the cold. All set and out of bed before it was light only for HID to have a migraine. Even I couldn't just leave her. Everyone said how quickly the frost went and how well the course is playing. Not what I wanted to hear and next Saturday is the new comeback day and I don't care if we get biblical rain and hurricanes
