My 2008 Grom developed fraying on the hip pad and so sent a pocket back (cut off at their request) and they sent a new 2009 model…

Not bad at all....

However a package containing this arrived earlier today:

It was won from an online golf competition - it's just a shame that I can't win on the premium bonds instead!

Under usual circumstances I would consider it, especially as my bag is on it's last legs. However I won the competition way back in November 08 and have been campaigning hard to gain my prize. I must have sent well over 25 emails/letters but eventually my persistence paid off.

100% recommend them, the Grom & Edge are quite heavy though imo. The reason I had to send my other back was I think I was catching it on something and got worn down. The new Ozone (below) looks really nice.

Ogio make the best bags bar none, The bag in my sig is the edge and it is fantastic. wouldn't call it heavy but not the lightest on market.

Nice one, I'm after one of these at the moment, but can't really justify to wifey...... :(

Need to wait a couple of months ;)

So what makes one brand of carry bag better than another other than it doesn't fall apart? What does Ogio have that say Ping Hoofer doesn't? Is it just a price thing? :D :D

I'd rather trolley any old bag than carry the latest thing regardless! ;)

I have no concrete evidence really and it is just a matter of opinion. Just like me saying that the best car in the world is the Nissan GTR, its not but I would still say it.

Thing about Ogio is though, the bags are A good build quality, very well thought out in terms of design and durablity. Easy to get on with, have everything in all the right places, Look fantastic, perform well and always get people asking where to get one from. I cant fault mine in anyway what so ever.

Never got that with my other 3 bags. :(

I have an original Hoofer, think its over 11 years old now and still minted condition!

Thats quality for you!

The Grom 2009 compared to the 2008 is 5 pounds lighter, it has the Arc stand system avoiding the poor legs on the 2008 model, the straps seem to stabilise the weight better but there seems to be less room in the big pocket than the 2008. The 2009 has a Velcro glove grip is on the side of the bag and is not really accessible when carrying the bag (unlike the Mizuno Aerolite) so you can take your glove off whilst walking rather than taking it off before you pick your bag up, the useful pen holder on the 2008 has been also moved to the front making access whilst walking hard, a feature which I enjoyed on the 2008. In the valuables pocket on the 2008 it had a small internal pocket for your mobile which was great, the 2009 doesn't have that this time. Overall pre golfing its up to Ogio's standards but could have been thought out a little more but the Arc stand is a 100% improvement on the last one.

Will update over the weekend on its performance on the course.
