so, in my bag, i currently have a TM Burner 3 and 5 hybrid. i seem to hit these clubs great (or at least a lot better thn my long irons!!). this has resulted in my hardly using my 5 iron. I have a 4 iron, that i very rarely use, would it be useful/of benefit to buy a 4 hybrid?? or would it be of more benefit to work on my longer irons more and try get used to them?
i know YE Yang has quite a range of hybrids in his bag, so it cant do any harm....

That's down to personal choice.

If you feel you hit hybrids better than your long irons, then it may be worth it.

Personally, I can't stand hybrids and much prefer to hit long irons, both off the tee and turf so I don't carry any.

Also, If you're carrying a 5 hybrid, why still carry a 5 iron? If you're looking to go down then the hybrid route, Do you have any distance gaps in your bag you could fill by taking the 5 iron out and adding a different club?

I took my 2 Iron out of the bag and replaced it with a 19* Hybrid. To be honest i don't hit the Hybrid any better than i hit the 2 Iron, but the Hybrid is far more versatile,as it has a higher ball flight, and the ability to be hit from any sort of lie.
Make the game as easy as possible,if you hit your Hybrids well, why beat yourself up trying to hit your long Irons, dump the long Irons, and get more Hybrids.

I've got just the 1... It's a 4h and I can't use it to save my life!!!! Much more of a long iron user. But at the end of the day it's what you prefer

why still have it? i really dont know, haha. just adding more weight to my bag! i used to prefer using it off the tee on some par 5s, but now using my hybrid

I've got a 3h & 4h that came as part of my set, I'm rubbish with both of them, couldn't hit a barn door even if I was stood inside the barn. I tend to use my 5w off the fairway &b my 5i off the tee instead of the hybrids.

I have 2, 19 degree and 24 degree although the 24 is more like an iron than a hybrid.
It really is down to what feels best for you.
Fragger turned up last Friday with a 6iron hybrid - that doesn't seem right to me.
If you can't hit a 6iron......???

Aha Grasshopper, I can hit a 6 iron, I just can hit a 27 degree Hybrid better and more consistantly

I now have 3 hybrids all Ping G15 a 20, 23 and 27 degree which replace my 4/5/6 irons

20 degree i can hit about 200 yards
23 degree about 180
27 degree about 160
7 iron about 145
8 iron about 130
9 iron about 115
pw about 100

Sorted, now when can I wupp Imurgs butt again?

Fragger :D

I can see, and agree with the reasons for dropping 3,4 and maybe maybe the 5 iron in place of hybrids but no further. If you have a swing that can hit a 7 iron then that swing will hit a 6 or even 5 and 4 adequately. 3 and 2 irons require a bit more skill.
If you feel you can't hit a 6 iron consistently enough then you can't hit a 7 or 8 either and I fully expect to see 7 and 8 hybrids in the bag next week.

Using such high-lofted hybrids, to me, is an admission of defeat.

Hi guys which hybrid do you think is better the taylor made burner superfast which i can get for £100 or the ping g15 hybrid which i can get for £75. Any ideas

It's all about how you hit them so I'd say try both before you decide .

I have a cobra baffler 3/20 and a Taylormade rescue 4/24 in the bag but also have an Adams 2/17 in garage but it's a hit and miss with that one

How many do you want? IF you follow Y.E Yangs example at the masters you'll have 4. 17* 19* 21* 23*

Depends what suits your game a style of play. If you are hitting them better and consistently I can't think of any reason not to go for them.

So are you saying that a 27 degree hybrid is the same as a CHIPPER

Carrying a 5 iron seems kind of pointless if you like the hybrid one?

I personally think adding a 4h to a 3h and 5h seems a little overkill...not to mention expensive...

I sometimes use my 3h for 4 iron distance, it seems quite easy to take something off the 3?

Whatever makes you happy I guess. Sooner or later though, I think you'll be on a real 5 iron and might then regret also buying a 4 for the same reason. I'm rubbish (not full stop, obviously) but I use a 4 iron quite effectively.....it seems easier to hit straighter than a 4 hybrid.....

bought my 1st today as a 2 iron or 3 iron out the semi rough is nigh impossible, hybrid out the semi today and ended up 40yds short of the par 5, the 2 iron would've chunked.

P.S MAN they fly high though

Basically try any club before you buy or suffer buyers remorse later. I only have a 3 hybrid (20 degree) but can see how a 4 or even a 5 can be of great benefit. If it works for you then go for it and sod what anyone else thinks
