I played with a decent golfer at St Georges Hill in a society day a while back. He played off 6 (I think) and the biggest iron he had in his bag was a 6. Everything lower was a hybrid. He hit them superbly, and preferred using them to irons. Who was I to argue, he was a bloody good golfer!
Me? Can't get on with 'em. My irons go down to 4 (which I can sometimes hit off the tee) and I now carry a 7 wood instead of hybrids as I can pick the ball up a lot easier with a fairway.
