I'm seeing loads of deals on hybrids and thinking about getting a 4 iron replacement but is it simply a case of getting loft for loft replacement? ie 23 degrees? Looking to get to sit between 3 iron tmb and 5 iron but don't wanna end up getting the same loft and find it goes exact same distance as one of these others(3 or 5i)... is my only option getting on a LM as all these great deals are on websites?

When I first got my hybrid I was looking for a 3 hybrid but i struggled to get it in the air and I tried the 4 which actually went a lot further as the extra loft allowed me to get a better trajectory. In my experience, hybrids do go further than irons and are more forgiving. So you may find that the 5 hybrid would go the same distance as your 5 iron would and your 4 hybrid would replace your 3 iron. But as you already stated, you will only know this from using a LM.

A 4 hybrid (22-23°) should go further than an iron of similar loft as the hybrid, generally, has a longer, lighter shaft = more clubhead speed.
It's tricky to that's carry distances without a LM to be honest - can you judge a 180 yard carry against a 190..?
I can't...
Your 4i is 22° I believe...A 24° hybrid could be close to the same carry distance but, again, you'll struggle to work it out without a LM.

I use an '18* Adams XTDti' set at 17* (all XTD's are adjustable +/- 1.5*) instead of a 3i, my 'Speedblades' are 20*/4i, 23*/5i etc etc, I am considering replacing the 4i with a '20* XTD' as I get around 210-220 with my 18/17* but it's easier to achieve than with an iron, hybrids definitely provide more distance than an iron...

I may even replace the 5i with the 23* version as I tend to struggle a touch with the longer irons...:smirk:

I wouldn't worry about the hybrid and the TMB going the same distance. They are they for 2 entirely different jobs.

Well yeah this is my reason for wanting a hybrid so I have a good club for hitting out the rough- the 3 wood does the job to an extent but not as effective as a hybrid BUT I am going to have a noticeable gap between 5 iron and 3 iron too so kind of trying to keep gapping the same whilst giving me an extra option from said shot

It'll be easier to throttle back a 3 iron to gain that 4 iron distance. I drop my 4 iron in winter and chuck the 3 iron back in, don't feel any gap in the top end of the bag.
