hybrid differences

Im struggling a bit with my hybrid and am considering an iron type hybrid, whats the main difference between normal and say callaway apex and adams pro dhy?
I used to be solid with my hybrids but give me a 5 iron or my 5 wood right now,absolutely creaming the 5 wood right now.

When I first started out I had some 'hybrid irons'. They were made by RAM and certainly helped me get the ball airborne and some distance. Only problem was that they didn't generate much spin, so 9 irons and PW would often fly through the greens if hit at reasonable power.

But they were great as a 16 year old to get me into the game!

Not tested both tho I would assume the dhy type would be more accurate tho you wouldn't hit it as far as hybrid in the same loft.

I would agree that a 5 wood is a lot easier to hit than any hybrid

Most 4 hybrids and 5 woods are extremely easy to hit - the issue comes when people try to hit them 'further'...

There are now many 'types' of hybrid and each has their own strengths and weaknesses.

The DHY is (literally) a 'Driving Hybrid' so is optimised for tee shots. Noticeably more difficult to play off the deck than other hybrids, though better than an iron. The one I acquired is waiting for a new shaft, which unexpectedly broke. The Adams Pro I bought off RickG is serving me well - even with an X-Flex shaft.

The original TaylorMade Rescue Mid (a simple lump of iron on the end of a stick) that I have in my 'spare' bag is probably the most versatile!

Adams will have a hybrid for every purpose though - great clubs and use proper shafts suited to their role!

Funny that,when i origonally switched to rescues the rescue mid was my weapon of choice, i got caught up in magazine hype and changed it out.

I watched an interesting Youtube video some time ago which advocated that you should use the hybrid with a "wood" swing instead of using it with and "iron" swing. It never occurred to me that you would even consider using it like an iron?
