I've just had a big portion.
Golf is not easy.
Did I hit my drives as far as I thought I would? No.
Did I hit the ball as well as I thought I would? No.
Did I imagine a course as unforgiving as Beau? No.
Did I top my first hit into the cabbage. Yes!

In hindsight, what I would say about Beau is that it rewards conservative golf. Attacking the greens is not the best play. Making good, safe contact, keeping the ball in play is. Any shot rolling off the fairway meant trouble.

A very enjoyable tiring day, and a real pleasure to meet everyone.

Well I'm sorry I thought you were a fraudster but you did seem a tad cuckoo so apologies. And well done for showing up and taking your lumps that takes cahoonas as does the large dollop of humble pie eating you've done.

Glad you enjoyed the day. Sounds like you had a similar experience to me back when I first ventured onto a course. Spent 7 months on the range couldn't hack it (literally :o ) on the course. Nice hit on 18 btw

Looking forward to hearing about more on course action :D

Welcome to the world of real golf

maybe your new name should be "Tim5Blobs" :D

takes balls to admit publically that it didnt work out how you wanted, so respect there

Now lets stop all this "distance is king"/ "Practice is everything" nonsense , get out on the course more, get a handicap and start chipping away at it.

Sure practice is important and has its place, but as you have found it bears no resemblence to a golf course.

Glad everyone had a good day, thats what Golf is all about

Not too sure that the forum needs a humble Tim. What was your score on the day?

I hope you dont start posting about how short you duffed a shot but if your going to eat humble pie you at least did it properly!

well done mate !!

I was hoping to hear about long drives and proving everyone wrong!! Never mind as long as you enjoyed yourself, as said before though the course can be an evil mistress so just have a go at taming her and keep smiling! Just don't stop the posts we want to hear about it.

Must have missed all the chat but what i glean is timgolfy boasting about being a massive hitter etc etc
Well golf is a great leveller and I don't recall any good golfer shouting from the rooftops, let your scores do the talking, remember talk is cheap.
You've shown cahonies though in going to the meet so well done now onwards and upwards.

Respect Timbo!!

How about a deal...

You listen to us, we listen to you and we start talking and playing Golf?

What handicap were you playing off?

As I said in the other thread mate, I have massive respect for you showing up after all the stick you've been given. I can't imagine how much you were soiling yourself on the 1st tee!

Once you got going, you hit some very nice golf shots.

I'm due a free round up at Brickhampton soon once I've got 3 more stamps on my loyalty card from the range, so we'll have to organise a round.

And you're welcome down at my place any time.

To be fair to Tim, it was quite easy to play like a knob yesterday. I certainly did, and from looking at the scores, there were quite a few experienced golfers who made a hash of it too.

Well done for turning up Tim, see you at Luton Hoo.

Got to admit Tom I did'nt like your posts on the forum, dont
think many did,I thought your ego would get the better of
you,and you would'nt turn up,but you did.
I'm not really bothered what you played like, just dont go on
about those "huge" drives anymore..humble pie tastes better
with a glass of humility..

A question.

How many full shots did you play?

How many shots ( including putts ) did you play from 100 yards in?

There's nowt wrong with practising like you do, keep it up. Carry on working on that powerswing - it is a good, important idea. But you might want to practise your short game more in the same ratio as the numbers above.

Just a tip from an old hacker.

I can't remember every shot, but I do remember he had some nice pitches and putts from short range.

His second into the 11th in the afternoon was a peach. Pitched it (stiff) from around 100 yards to about 10ft. Below the hole too which is the ONLY place you want to be on that green (no idea if he made the par or not, I was too busy basking in my awesomeness after my picture perfect drive on the double dog-leg 12th :D). Putting downhill is (I imagine) akin to putting downhill on the greens at Augusta. I ended up therein both my rounds, a quite literally nudged the ball as softly as I could from about 10ft out only to watch the ball roll by the hole and end up as far away as it was before or even twice the distance from the hole. Crazy fast greens!

I was being a bit "tongue in cheek" calling him Tom,cos he
was'nt that memorable, still, the forum lads seem to think he's ok,in that case maybe I was wrong..we'll see.
