Been an iPhone person for a long time. Just bought my daughter a XR for Christmas. Whilst in there guy sorting us out was raving about his Huawei mate 20 pro. Best phone he’s ever had!
Am due an upgrade in Jan! Anybody got one and how does it compare?

Think that the individual phone makes little difference, it comes down to IOS V Android and cost

Most people tend to prefer one software type over the other.

Personally I don’t get on with Android, so I’m apple (IOS) but won’t pay the silly money for the latest kit, so my phone which I’ve had for, 6 months is the IPhone 8.

If I was into Android then the Huawai would be on my list

Yep agree with above, was going to ask, have you always been an iphone person because you just have, or are you embedded into their ecosystem? They do a good job of doing that.

Often hear of people struggling to switch operating system. It's a personal thing, I prefer android.

I've got the Mate 20 Pro, absolutely exceptional phone. Both front and cameras are unbelievable quality, the OS is easy to navigate, battery life is superb I'm constantly on my phone for work and other bits yet I don't even need to charge it daily. Mrs Wolf has the iPhone XS Max and she said that it's nowhere near as good as my phone but she also admits to being an apple follower because she doesn't like change and has had iPhone since they began.

End of the day though it does come down to your own preference.

Thanks all.....
yeah, I guess it’s just making the big change...
all my music is on my iTunes, is there a way of getting it switched to work on an android phone? I know I could stream through Spotify, but just want to switch what music I already have stored in my iTunes account.

Think the Huawei won best smart phone in one of the tech mags like Stuff. Said it's cameras were very good. But it will probably spy on everything you do ;)

I always stick with iPhone.
Only because I’m use to it & got all my stuff on icloud.
But I’ve still got 6s & on sim only deal,I don’t “need” the latest model 😀

Quite uncanny but I've been looking at lots phone reviews in the past few days, and the mate pro comes out on top in almost all reviews (android) however, there is no way I'm paying £900 for a phone so my S6 will have to do for now.

I sit in the Android camp having an iPhone for work use and a Motorola Moto G4 for personal use. I happen to prefer Android. For me it's the easier system and doesn't tie you in so you can't change over to another brand/OS (see comments above).
The question for me is, how much do people really use these super-duper features on their phone? My Moto G4 is now over 2 years old, still works perfectly well, takes decent photos when I need them, runs all the apps and at the moment I can see no reason to upgrade it. Cost? £150.
The new top-of-the-range smart phones are more expensive than a top spec laptop or tablet. It's crazy.

Makes me laugh when people try to justify why the latest must have model is worth the money.

If you shop around though sometimes you end up with a better deal that actually costs less. I upgraded mine to the Mate 20 in October on day it was released, got a good deal with O2 that took my data up form 20GB a month to 50GB a month, the usual unlimited calls and texts we all get, I got £50 cash back and pay £12 a month less than I was paying for my Samsung S8+.

Smart shopping and going new can sometimes be the better option if done right.

I believe Hauwei are made in the same factory as Iphone. Like other people have said, you may have a preference for either Apple or Android software, although I believe once you have got used to either there is nothing in it. I don't like Apple because they are to controlling regards what you can download on to the device. I know a reasonable amount about mobile phones, and would suggest you look at the specifics prior to purchase, rather than the name on the box. I would also consider carefully what you are using it for. The difference between a £1000 phone and the CORRECT choice of a £100 is the ability to play high powered games. Both make calls, both send text messages, both browse the internet, and both are fine for social media. OK, top of the range phones have better cameras, but unless you are a photographer, does the quality of the picture really matter that much? In order these are the four biggest manufacturers of phone, Samsung, Hauwei, Apple, Xiaomi. Xiaomi aren't particularly well known in the UK, but are the biggest selling phones in some Asian countries, and just opened their first store over here. Their specification is brilliant, and their build quality is excellent. They are an Android phone with their own skin, which in actual fact is very good. You can buy one of these phones with a similar spec to a £700 Samsung for about half the price. I just bought my wife the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X for £99 delivered. It has a 3gb memory, 32gb storage, and a powerful Snapdragon processor. The reviews are excellent. I already own the Redmi 4X, which is by far the best phone I have ever owned, and like most Xiaomi phones it is duel sim. I should also mention it has a 4100 mAh battery, which gives it a crazy usage and standby time.

All top end phones are excellent and there is very little, if anything between performance and quality that most human beings would never discover. It is indeed personal taste, specifically between operating systems. I'm android all day long

I wouldn’t trust anything coming from a Chinese company, so I’d go for the iPhone (not that I really trust a yank company).
I think I have trust issues🤔
