How would you react to this?

Looks like lazy or incompetent greenkeeping to me.
Or perhaps just been caught out by some poor weather?

How many greenstaff does your club employ and what is their maintenance budget?

Not sure Pal.... But from what i know there are 3.... One thats full time and the other 2 are part time..... Iv no problem with work being done.... But dont start something if you dont take pride in it...... I cant stand that.

That's a shocking job on yours...

imagine what a green that never gets treated looks like...that's what we've put up with for over a year

I am complaining the only way I can - by moving to a new club

Well im thinking of doing the same Pal.... And things like this just make my decision easier.

wow!!!!
wouldn't of even bothered playing

is there not a notice board in your club what gives you a idea what greenkeepers are doing on different weeks

mine at my home club has just been done that's why I didn't play today

Not the best job I've seen, but certainly not the worst either.

How many days before the Medal were they tined? Often just a lack of communication between Committee and Green Staff about timing of work/comps. Much better to schedule comps before such maintenance, though sometimes that can't be done.

Doesn't seem like you actually have enough greenies. Tining is a major exercise if done properly.

It's got little to do with what they are doing, it's how they are doing it. Work has to be done to keep the greens he way we want them, but if you're going to do a job, take some damn pride in it.

That looks similar job to what our guys done last time ours were plugged, took ages for the greens to recover in fact some had holes all through the winter.

I know this is down to lack of skilled greens keepers with a lack of time, I can only blame the guy who owns/runs the place for not giving the head green keeper the staff or money to do the work better, in fact in some ways i feel sorry for the green keepers who have a bit of a bad rep, but if you don't have the staff what can you do?

Had a lesson at a place near me on Friday and the greens had been done a week and a half earlier and they are still in better nick than ours and have almost fully recovered. This was done by a device similar to a scarefier (sorry SP) rather than plugging. The pro told me it as effective as plugging but takes less time to recover.

My club always makes it known in advance when they are going to do work on the greens. It is always midweek and always done professionally. It looks like both the club and the green keepers in the OP are a little to blame. There is nothing you can do about it as it has to be done.

I'd be pretty disappointed if I had paid over £40 to play the course with greens like those.
If it was a cheap pay and play at less than £20 I might be a bit annoyed but could live with it.
I would expect to be told that the greens were being conditioned though.

There is a course I play at sometimes which suffers from goose poo all over the first green. Never nice but the course is so close to my house it is unreal and it is really short so you can squeeze in a twilight round on Fridays (probably going to be difficult to do from now on though).
