Just wondering what the general consensus is from the forum on having to putt on greens like this....
I know that they have to be hollow cored throughout the year at certain times and its a necessity but should you have to play Medal rounds with greens this Bad?
And do you think you should be told before paying that the greens are the way they are....

Seems pretty bad timing it should be done at least 2weeks before a competition, or at least at my club it is ( I think). If not then I would withdraw.

At the end of the day it has to be done for the benefit of the course and members, but thats been done really badly. They really should be able to actually clear all the tines off the greens and then sand them properly - looks a real shoddy job

Too late for that Pal.... Shot 91...... I could blame the course but i got out of bed without my swing today....

This.

How would I react? I wouldn't react.... no point, I'd only be complaining about the crap green keepers yet again.

I'm trying hard not to give a hoot about this game..... ball > hole > go home.

Its just another reason on my list of why i should join another club next season Pal......
This greeted us this morning as well as chopped grass in lumps all over the fairways and rough that wasnt collected....

Now i can understand being punished for finding the rough... But when you have to deal with grass choppings all over fairways i think it takes the biscuit a little.....
I had one instance this morning where i hit a great drive that spilt the fairway only to find when i reached it that it was sat perched on top of a lumps of grass left after the mower that was at least 2" high...
Am i just nit picking or does anyone else share thoughts on this?

So wasn't the putting then ;)... Would not worry about it you could say its not a qualifier or just take the 0.1 and go work off the problems so you can get it back plus interest :)

Putting, Irons, Driver, Swing the lot....
Better to have a poor day when the course is poor ... its a real ball breaker when the course is in great nick and the weather is suitable and all you can do is carry or push your bag from rough to rough...
Point is it happens, let it go, practice and come back stronger ... +ve attitude is worth a few strokes

I left my last club for the poor standard of greenkeeping. They would never collect grass cuttings or even ntake weeds out the bunkers, one they hollow tined the greens they were ruined.

Ya thats what iv been doing this season... There's always going to be bad rounds regardless of how low in handicap you are.... Nobodys perfect...

Pretty poor leaving the greens like that. As for clumps of grass on the fairways don't think I've ever played at a club that collects fairway mowings ( it's good for the fairway to have the nutrients back from the clippings ) so accept that some times they'll be cut when it's too wet and you'll get the clumpinss

Looks like lazy or incompetent greenkeeping to me.
Or perhaps just been caught out by some poor weather?

How many greenstaff does your club employ and what is their maintenance budget?

Your greenkeepers need a good talking to. Work has to be done but to leave them like that is either incompetent or lazy (or both)

Thats just being lazy, but they look good as to what i've putted on all season thankfully due to the weather our greens are now back where they should be.

They put a rescue treatment on them and for while it looked like they'd lost them completely

That's a shocking job on yours...

imagine what a green that never gets treated looks like...that's what we've put up with for over a year

I am complaining the only way I can - by moving to a new club
