I am finding myself more and more disillusioned with the golf on TV nowadays, in fact I find the majority of it boring. Sky's American offerings are plagued with the Yanks 'an ad a shot' attitude and sadly for me the commentators on the European tour just make the game seem really tedious with their monotone voices and frankly they do not seem to have anything interesting to say on the game. Surely golf can be portrayed as exciting, but how? what features or which commentators would you like to see to give the televised game the extra ooomph I think it's lacking.

I disagree. I like Boxall and Lee commentating and Radar is great value. I agree Steve Beddow has a dull voice but add in Murray and Critchley and I think its a pretty decent line up. Apart from Alliss and Torrance I'd rather watch with the sound off on the BBC

I also like the European Tour coverage on Sky, and think that Murray, Boxall, Lee and Radar are excellent. Not too keen on the presenter Livingstone, and Critchley is a bit old school for me.
As for the BBC, Alliss is reaching his sell-by date but is still just about OK. Torrance is OK and I like James's humour. Not too keen on either Grady or Brown, and thank the heavens that Lineker has gone.
US commentary is crap, all of them (Faldo, Miller, Feherty, the plonker with the moustache and the rest). Tend to watch the US comps on mute.

Now thats a great idea - Especially if they use the ones a from the World Championship - not the ones that do the prem league though - they aren't as good

Have 3 confirmed haters of golf do it. Their witty if sometimes controvertial attitudes may just make it more accesable and may even be funny. Well maybe for a short time anyway. Let's put it this way, Clarkson interviewing Tiger, wouldn't be about his birdie on the 15th!

I am of course referring to Clarkson, Hammond and May, working of course with he likes of Peter Aliss and Ken.

It's not a serious suggestion. But it would be amuzing for a major or two. :p

Get Tiger and John Terry to do the coverage on the ladies :D :D :D

Radar is bang for buck the wittiest one of the lot..Brilliant....
Im ok with the European coverage its those muppets in the states that crack me up......
If i see them cutting to a picture of snoopy on that MetLife Blimp one more time ill go balastic.......Its absolutely ridiculous

And there constantly going on about a 3mph breeze blowing the ball all over the course.......
Bring em over this side of the pond and they'll get to experience what real wind is.....

Oh and get Di out on the course in a Bikini with Natalie Gulbis and Michelle Wie covering the european tour in hot climates..... :D :D :D...Heaven!

Hot women golfers naked or in bikinis. Shoot down Snoopy blimps and put a timer on the golf balls so if they go over that time over each shot, the ball explodes taken part of the golfers legs with it (that will speed things up )

I would like any coverage but unless I want to fork out 50% more a month to virgin (to get sky sports), I'm stuck with a pitiful hour a week of over-edited US low-lights on espn.

(trouble is it's no cheaper to switch to sky then you have to include the cost of a bt line I don't really need.)

I've only got SkySports because Setanta went boobs-up, the coverage on Sky has been amazing this year. I've watched almost every minute of every tournament so far.... plus you get football and all the rest too. Personally I think it's the best money I've ever spent. Even watching the 'Shell wonderful world of Golf' is worth the subscription to me.

I think they should spice it up by having coverage of all Golf Monthly meet ups... the language normally gets a bit spicy though, especially after Smiffy's 4th or 5th duffed shot

Post of the year
:D

I think Sky have enough content to knock up a dedicated Golf channel now. The 4 hour slots of coverage from Euro and PGA tour days can be repeated through the night (When I normally record them as I can't record at primetime as it clashes too much with entertainment programmes).

HD Euro tour coverage is superb - like watching through binoculars, the detail is so good.

Like AndrewG, I record most of the live golf using Sky+ then start watching later - slowing catching up with live action. I find this is the only way to watch the US coverage on Sky. There's far too many ad breaks but that's US TV for you.

The one thing I don't like about Sky's European Tour coverage is that they rarely play anything 'off tape'. So if Sky was on an ad break when the leader hit a shot, you've missed it - they rarely say, 'while you were away, this happened'.

PGA tour is great with Sky+ so you record it watch it later and fast forward through the crap. Feherty is just the yanks version of Wayne Grady. But much as I like the euro tour coverage at times the commentators could be on the olympic boring team.
