Most problems in golf are basically about the contact you make with the ball and/or the direction it goes.
How you hit it and where you hit it.
Which is the weakness in your game and how are you trying to improve it?

Hey Bob
im concentrating on where to hit it ......
My ball striking is pretty good for my handicap......
Its my short game where my weakness lies.....Work in progress......

I think that i have slight alignement issues and always try my best to make sure im square to my target......
I think this is causing where i hit it as i have a habit of putting my ball on the tee with the marker line for putting facing the clubface.....And about 8 out of 10 shots leave a mark on the centre of the face......

Deffo where - especially with the driver in my hands. (Working on it Bob - honest!)
Generally get a decent strike on the ball but direction is another thing. A little bird told me its all in my grip....

I voted "how"...simply because I played 7 over last game out and couldn't reach 5 holes.....go figure. :o :D

How do I hit it? Remains a mystery to me. Mainly off the toe, but the bottom edge and the hozel see a bit of action too.

Where do I hit it? If only I knew I wouldn't lose half as many golf balls.

I'm more concerned about HOW i hit it, the where takes care of itself when I'm hitting it nicely - which hasn't been too often lately :(

I voted How.

I am in the middle of some lessons just now and at the stage of understanding the movements in my swing and the importance of certain fundamentals. I can now feel the difference in my swing and am looking forward to some range practice this winter to continue my work on it.

When Im on the golf course I play the course to the best of my ability. I have only seriouly played golf now for 4-5 years and each I am improving. This will be the first year where I have planned to practice at the range once a week.

So hopefully looking at the how now the where will happen auntomatically.

Where. It is very rare for me to hit fat or thin shots and generally the ball striking is crisp and fairly central on the face. I know the issues and I'm getting there slowly. Cut out the killer hole per round and I'm pretty close to where I want to be at this stage. A stronger short game (my nemesis) would be the salvation when I'm having a directionally challenged round and would at least help save some shots.

How I hit it determines where I hit it.

I agree with the above so I voted how.

I have had some success with alignment work I have been doing and my Pro took £25 off me and moved my hands back 6 inches at address, the upshot of these things seems to have made my ball go pretty straight but I am really desperate to try and work the ball a little. I also gain allot of confidence from good ball striking.

Since posting my swing and getting some incredible feedback from both the forums and a new buddy I met on the forums I am working hard on snapping me left knee and getting my weight onto my left side at impact.

Onwards and upwards.

How I hit it is usually my most annoting problem out of the 2. More specifically off the tee with irons. I'm quite prone to hitting the ball up near the flangey part so have a weaker sttrike that doesnt travel the correct distance. This pees me off cos its usually straight enough but ends up a club or 2 short.

How.

I like to think I cover the basics (like aim) pretty well so it's all down to how I hit it. Which is almost exclusive to whether I complete my backswing or not.

Thanks for the replys.
I was hoping to read more about how people are trying to fix their swing faults as per the original question

Which is the weakness in your game and how are you trying to improve it?

My biggest weakness is my alignment.
James has been helping me over the last couple of months and will often stand behind me as I am addressing the ball and will only walk away when he thinks it is ok. I'm finding this is working and my ball striking, and distance have improved a bit since we started doing this. Thanks James!

My other big problem, which I have always had, is when I address the ball with my irons, I have a tendency to set up with the ball right on the toe of the club, sometimes even outside of it! This is more noticeable on par 3's when I have the ball teed up, but I also do it with fairway shots. I am trying to make a point now of getting the ball more towards the middle of the club, but not always doing it. It leads to some bloody awful shots, especially on the aforementioned par 3's. As I say, I have always done it, it's not something that has crept into my game "overnight"
