How long does it take?

I know I've only had my new Pings for a week, but I've been out on the course and hit in excess of 500 balls on the range and I can't get a feeling of control over them at all. Distance control is way off - good strikes (few and far between) travel varying distances, accuracy is all over the place and the look and feel isn't there either.
I spent 2 hours on the range this afternoon with the i15's and my old X20 Tours hitting the 3 or 4 balls with the same number club to a target and the Pings were useless in my hands. Now I know i'm used to the X20T's but I'm also no mug with a golf club and there's just something not right with these. They're 1/2 inch longer than standard and 2.25 degrees upright as fitted and this is obviously going to take time to get used to - but how long, how many balls have I got to hit before I know whether these clubs are right for me?

Right now I'm on the verge of putting the X20T's back in the bag and dumping the Pings - they're even starting to not look nice (that'll please you Murph!).

Depressed of Aylesbury :(

Stick with them dont mix them with your other irons IMO new irons just need a bit of positive thought if they are not going well and you will soon have them eating out your hands

So Imurg is playing crap and blaming his new expensive sticks... aint life a drag.

may be in with a chance of taking him when we play tomorrow.

Watch this space :D

A whisker over 6ft - so if you're anything to go by I need standard or smaller! :p

Yeah, but dont forget you are also 6 ft round the middle,
your swing is like a baseball action to cope

I love taking the rise out of my little bro

Ping irons..yeeuucch

I'm 6' 2" and my clubs are standard everything. Never had a problem with them from day one either.

Hope they come good soon Imurg

I managed to get cut the first time i played with my new (fitted) Mizuno's.Unfortunately the magic now seems to have worn off ! It is nice to play with clubs that sit properly (1 degree flat, and 1/4 inch longer) My old irons, off the shelf, sat with a very cocked up toe.

Can I recommend a lesson with the pro who fitted you (may give you it 'on the house') or any other teaching pro? I think with a bit of help and guidance and the confidence this will inevitably bring, it will get you in the habit of nailing them. Just a thought.

I think the best advice was from someone earlier who said take them back to the fitter. Let him watch you to see if indeed you have altered your swing. I would have thought that you are bound to alter the swing in some way with different lies and lengths.

Ok, Imurg, CVG and moi played this morning.
GUESS WHAT

Imurg has his old irons in the bag,
He has only played 13 holes with the new custom Fit Pings and he has ditched them already.

I really dont think he has given them a chance, although to be fair, he did play well with his old irons

Keep an eye open on Ebay for some ping sticks going cheap

Fragger

LOL i'm popping down to southfields tonight, i won't say a word!!! ;)

They're certainly on life support at the moment.
Had another couple of range sessions but total existence failure is getting nearer. Its mucked up the wedges too, which I had changed to the new spec so somethings not right. And when I look down at the there's much more offset thatn I'm used to - don't know if that makes a difference but it looks wierd.

Should have left it to the summer - take heed. Impulse buys don't often work!!

But you all know that anyway

Don't you?
