How do you motivate yourself through the bad patches -

homer, like you im a bit of a "glass half empty" but after saturdays display is was "the bottle is totally empty" the pro ive been with has me booked in for thursday for an hour. hes already said that my stance is open and my old in to out swing plane is back. So off to the range tonight to work on the old drills, with then thursdays lesson

smiffy, you could be onto something, saturday im just playing with my main partners who i have a laugh with, hopefully this will take my mind off the poor golf.

Sounds like part of the frustration is the high handicapper pissing you off - maybe with his handicapp??

Like others i would say if you got to 13 it is genuine - you can play this game-so in a word RELAX!

I've never let myself get into a slump, I have it in the front of my head that this is only a pastime and it costs me £800 a year (minimum) to play. If I'm going to shell that cash out then it needs to be for something I enjoy every time.
That's not to say the golf isn't shocking at times, it definitely is and then some!!! But I look forward all week to getting back out for a knock again. Even when the ground is frozen and the temps are out.

I'd say ditch the lessons and go play, get stuck into the banter and the golf will follow.......or you'll be too busy laughing to care.

I've been in a slump for the past 2 1/2 years nearly had lessons worked hard at the range but still no luck,i thought about jacking it in but no i'm going to plug away.

The things that keep me going are my course is a decent track,my son play's there as does my brother and all my mates and the banter is great all the time,if i play decent i'll take if not i'm to old to let it get me down now its only a game and there's more to life than golf i'm afraid.
