hi everyone. just wondering how you grip a golf club.
ive been told you that you will never play as good interlocking your pinkie than you will overlapping it
but i dont want to change for the sake of it. Has anyone had any success with an interlocking grip ?

2 of the greatest players that ever played the game (Woods and Nicklaus) interlocked their fingers so I wouldnt say its inferior.

It mostly depends on the size of your hands and what feels comfy. As above, there can't be much wrong with interlock can there?
And anyone who says " You will never play as well with one grip rather than another" is talking from the wrong end.

I used the baseball grip when I was a small junior and then changed to an interlocking grip and I've used that for many years.

Just about to say the same and like Homer I have small hands (but big feet before you all start smirking :) ) so I have always interlocked my fingers. What I was told was not to have the interlock too deep just to the webbing in between.

I use overlap currently but have used interlock with equal 'success' and have switched back and forth over the years and could swap to interlocking tomorrow with no issues. I personally don't think it makes any difference, go with whatever you are comfortable with.

Interlocking now, though i only changed last year from years of the overlap (Vardon) grip. Read an article that Paul Casey had been advised to change, and gave it a go. Must admit it feels more secure and natural now. To start with though i would forget, and would play rounds using both grips. :(

Vardon overlapping for me, ever since I was shown how to grip a club properly aged 14 or so.

The interlock makes me feel as though I'm gripping too tight.

Is there anyone with an alternative grip to these two?? Baseball?? Double interlocking (a la Furyk)??
