How do you develop a more complete golf game??

Fantastic thread, so many different ways. Like anything the fundamentals have to be in reasonable shape, self realisation is a huge part of it and lessons and a playing lesson are essential if you want to progress.
I am new to the game, not yet a year with a GUI handicap, but it is only in the last 2 months I have scored consistently.
I took a playing lesson with my pro, a very competent competitive professional.
I Learnt about targets, attacking in the scoring zone and playing confidently within reason. It is only now it is starting to sink in as I am no longer hung up on hitting the ball,
I now have recorded and identified my weaknesses and I am looking forward to the next 4 months working on my game.
So in my instance, playing, practice and acceptance.

Lessons and range work iron out flaws but playing gets you better, you still need on course experience and can only get that from playing. Outwith medal days I play the course from bad lies and places on the course I shouldn't be, trying to get better for all eventualities.
