How do I spend my cash?

Just started playing this great game and I'm hooked.

At the moment I'm paying per round and squeezing in 9 holes when I can. I have a basic set of slazenger clubs from JJB which are actually ok.

Do I put my money towards a membership for a club so I can play more golf. Or do I use the money to upgrade my bag and look to join a club next year.

For me, if you are happy with the clubs and you can use them, put the money towards joining a club. You can play as often as you like, join in comps, make new friends and playing partners.
Once you get yourself a handicap and start to progress, that's maybe the time to change your sticks, but by then you may just be attached to them.

Providing you can use the club enough to justify the cost then I'd get membership somewhere. Lay down some roots, get an official handicap and playing in comps. You can always look for a good 2nd hand bargain or ask for cash etc for birthdays/christmas and upgrade that way

Yip got to agree with whats been said before, you think you got the bug now, wait till you get a handicap and want to beat it, then you'll really get the bug.

You have sticks, so stick with them. Get into a club, get yer hcap and possibly some lessons

Spend the winter on the range dreaming of spring, then spend your money on new sticks next year when they bring out the new models ( picking up last years for a wee bargain)

Hello and welcome where are you based they'll be someone nearby to help with clubs in your area as it's Pretty unanimous join the club and upgrade the kit as and when you can.

If you put a good swing on them clubs they will work for you so dont worry bout that. More golf and more friends will help you enjoy it even more and you will be a shaking addict in no time

Cheers guys, seems like its an overwhelming victory for membership.

Ive been looking at clubs Near Kirkcaldy, fife. Greig had mentioned Thornton which is kind of leading the pack. Burntisland had decent rates but seems quite a tricky course. I've been practising at dunikeer which is a municipal but the joining fees are massive!

A friend of mine just joined charleston but it seems a bit of a trek for me. I'm away on holiday for two weeks in July when I get back I might phone Thornton for a test drive.

Aye that's me over exaggerating a wee bit.

I can imagine some folk pay that over a few months.

I had assumed the council courses would have been the cheapest options but some of the other courses seem cheaper and better maintained.

Seriously mate, even with a low subs fee Dunni is a pit compared to Thornton.
Charleton is a good shout if you can travel. Balbirnie have some good deals too depending on your age. Played there last weekend and it was in really good shape.

Yeah Thornton looks well maintained. Does it have a lot of narrow fairways? I'm also hoping it holds up over winter so I can get some time on the course.
