how chunky are my G10 wedges!!!!!!

so I had the i10/g10 combo for a week, didnt like the step between chunky g10 then i10 so flogged em via the bay and replaced with a full set of g10 3-sw

got rid of my vokeys as felt the 60 degree was more of a hindrance as I used it for shots I shouldnt and probably cost me more shots than saved per round.

Was just having a wee swing in the lounge with the wedges and my god they are chunky monkeys!!! Like a fat bird who fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch.. so on and so forth.

Does anyone else use pw/gw/sw from their iron set or is it really a major benefit having seperate blade style wedges?

lofts are 45/50/54 I believe

I've got Mizuno MX200 irons and also use the MX Series wedges. The pitching wedge is 45 degrees, the gap wedge is 50 and the sand wedge is 55. They're not overly chunky, but certainly not as svelte as MP wedges or Vokeys etc. The slightly larger head size gives me more confidence at address.

My R11 PW is more chunky on top than I'd like certainly compared to the TP but I use blade wedges (52 and 58) so it isn't an issue. I guess if you don't like what you are looking down on it won't exactly fill you with confidence

i have the burner 2.0 irons right through PASL so thats 45-60deg, having never used a blade wedge i cant really comment, but i do like the fact all of my clubs look the same at address... the 60L doesnt look massive to me..

My MP-32 PW is lovely to look at.

Saying that, the PW in my R7 set is not as thick as most GI irons the SW was a different story though.

I did look at the PING G10's a while back, but having held them quickly changed my mind. Too chunky.

I would say stick with them for a few months and see how you get on, its easy just to get a seperate wedge to slot in of they bother you but clearly people use them and get good results as they are a quality club.

deffo Scott, I have dropped a 60 and gone for matching wedges to eliminate me trying anything too 'cute' around the green. I have finally realised I need clubs to match my (lack of) ability and not just go for brands/looks etc

hence the pick ugly g10's

I loved the SW on my last set of Burners (circa 1998) When I bought this set of burners I had to fill in the gap with a 50 deg Vokey

The PW at 45 deg is a great club but the SW (at 55 deg) s very clunky and has a sole you could land a 747 on - so much bounce that I was thinning everything that wasn't 100% perfect contact. I felt I was missing a trick which the 50 deg Vokey helped with a lot.

After getting on well with the 50 deg I got myself a 58 deg so I don't use the SW other than in the bunkers now.

I have the Ping I wedges they too have the dark finish similar to the G10s but nowhere near as clunky, worth a go in my opinion If things get that bad with your current setup, (I'm not saying that they will but it is an option in the future)
