• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Hoping to play the Old Course

Unfortunately, there isn't really any way of making yourself comfortable while queuing, lack of benches to sit on. Maybe you can lie out on the putting green :D
What about sticking a towel down in your spot and going to do some practise chipping on the 18th

I'd love to play them both, but 'Home of Golf'! Can't beat it.

I'm playing Carnoustie with the missus (she's paid for it for my birthday) on the 21st of June - looking forward to it. I'm intending reciprocating by paying for us to play the Old Course if we can get a ballot slot around her birthday in September - I've played them both a few years ago and they are both excellent experiences.

St Andrews is just a wonderful place though so it edges it for me.

I played it as a single earlier this year.

They told me that there was very few days at all in the past year that they couldn't get everyone out. If you got there at say 6 I'd be fairly confident you'd get out albeit it might be much later in the day. I would suggest 4 to be about optimum time for starting to queue
