Any one got any good drills to combat this at the range, I had a wicked slice then changed my grip which has gone to a hook, driving me mad.

I have suffered this same problem. A lot of it seems to come from tension and apprehension about the shot, predominately tee shots.

For me. I need to concentrate on my set up.

Alignment, ball position (how close or far from me), neutral grip, and a square clubface. Oh, and relax. There is also so much more to contend with (swing plane etc), but these 5 things are enough to be getting on with.

Without seeing your swing, (not that I could comment on it anyway), but there could be any number of reasons for the hook.

BTW. I'm really not that good at this game, but this was some advice I was given by my pro. So you can take it or leave it as you see fit. But my advice would be to have a lesson.

Good luck.

PS I have less disasterous hooks now, just the occasional draw or the horrendous push. Will it ever end!?

I have a problem with ball position. Too far back and I strike it too far inside the line. I also feel trapped in that position so get active witht he hands to try and get back to the ball and turn them over shutting the face leading to it going left, turning left, with a bit of left hand spin and usually never found again.

Make sure the grip is Neutral and make sure you turn through the shot.

Good place to start.

I’ve been a major hooker for years and it’s ruined many of my rounds. DCB is right, the most important thing is clearing you’re left side, turning through the shot. Your downswing should start from the bottom.

It took me a long time to get this sorted and one crops up now and then but not as much, thankfully. Look at this link....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL_6M_xZvq0
