my natural flight would be a fade. im actually quite jealous of people whos natural shape is a draw. what i was wondering, it it easier to correct someone who has a hook or a slice?

i used to draw the ball very nicely, until I had a lesson with a new pro and he changed my grip, (strong). Now everything is straight which isn't such a bad thing but it's taken over six months for the grip to feel natural and adjust to the mechanics of the new swing, (it's surprising how changing grip can affect the swing).
I don't hit the ball quite as far as I used to but my accuracy has improved considerably. When I do get it wrong on my drive I now tend to fade the ball rather than draw it which is great for R/H dog legs.
The only problem I had with a natural draw was that on occasions when I over cooked it the ball used to scoot off to the left and on a hard surface and short grass it was easy to end up in trouble so given the choice i'd rather hit it straight every time.

I've always been a fader until a recent lesson when some changes to my setup appear to have unintentionally got me hitting more of a draw which I don't mind but is taking a bit of getting used to. Like you, I have always preferred the look of a draw but as someone once said "You can talk to a fade but a draw won't listen"
As to whether it's easier to correct a hook or slice, I have no idea but what I will say is there is nothing wrong with a controlled fade so if it is working for you, don't go trying to change

I draw the ball, but I prefer to see things left to right and worked very hard to fade the ball. I can work it both ways but sometimes ill double cross myself, or doubt my shot choice. I heard it was easier to correct a slice, and a fade is definitely less destructive in my opinion, as a hook keeps rolling usually into trouble, a fade will usually stop shorter and quicker. If you can play your fade well, I wouldn't try to change.

I was always a drawer of the ball. A change of shaft has sorted it. Nice and straight now. Well when I hit it right that is.

I would stick with the fade....Hogan had a draw and got rid of it, Kymer had a fade, went to a draw and now back to a fade (I think) and Jack the greatest had a fade.....I think the real answer is hit whatever you like so long as you know where its going but a fade will get you into less trouble!

Because draw and fade sound like shots you mean to hit, hook and slice just sound like you're out of control

I'm trying to change from a draw to a fade. A hook is the next step on from a draw, a hook is un-controllable, were as a slice you can work with

Dynamic Gold XP S300. Which I belive are at the soft end of stiff. So I guess thats somewhere between. DG R300 & DG S300. They are a lighter shaft, with a med/high flight. Ethan will put me right if I am wrong. But thats how I read it. I have lost a bit of length. But when I hit it right can land it on a sixpence.
Its nice to know the clubs are far better than me. So only myself to blame for the bad shots?

When i first took the game up 3 years ago i had a very bad slice...Im talking aiming at the midlle of adjacent fairways and over the tops of trees so that he ball would cut with at least 50 yards of left to right movement....Lots of reading and fiddling and over 2 years i learned to strengthen my grip and not murder the ball and i began hitting lovely left to right shots with all my clubs with just a few yards of movement.....
Last year i decided ( to this day i dont know why ) to teach myself to change my swing path for a draw......I spent 12 disheartening and frustrating months playing the game and in the end i stopped trying to change the way i naturally hit the ball.......Left to right......
But one thing i have noticed now is that from trying to hit the ball from the inside it has helped me tighten my fade even more.....I now hit all my shots left to right with heaps of distance sometimes longer than some of the lads that play a draw....
So i guess that i have a bit of a Power fade going on and its very controllable and i can go at the ball as hard as i want without having it Hook or Slice
