been a bad winter lost a galvin green jacket out of the club changing room and a few weeks back my pitching wedge was left out on the course on a captin's drive in and not handed in. dissapointed but are my expectations unreasonable? It's left a very bad taste in my mouth about the club itself

My recommendation is to get a decent nights sleep and be a bit more alert when you are playing.

;)

TBH I think it's pretty poor form, but then, I can't imagine your club is the only one where this happens. It only takes one or two chancers to be around for this to happen, and I'll bet most clubs have a couple of those at least.

If you have more than your fair share of them, and there is another, better club locally, I'd definitely think about switching. I'd hate to play every medal wondering if this guy is the one who...

Top Tip.

If you are close to the green and need to take a wedge and putter, when finished with the wedge don't lay it down on the fringe/green. Lay it down on top of the flagstick when it is out and lying on the green. That way, even if you forget, whoever replaces the pin will see your wedge.

I left a wedge on a green a few years ago and called the club shop to report I'd left it on the off chance anyone handed it in. To be honest I was surprise when they said they had it, handed in already!

In this day and age - even on a golf course, you leave t, you should expect to loose it. Sad indication of society but that's the world we live in :(

Our club is very honest in my experience, but then we are on the south side of Winchester, even in the worst area of that city everyone still has all their hubcaps!

It happens. I can understand someone nicking the GG jacket sadly as it is a desirable bit of kit but I like to think most golfers would be friendly enough to pick up a stray club and hand it in. What use is another club if you've a full set anyway. I always put my clubs straight in the locker as soon as I get in along with my shoes etc. even if they are wet (take them home and dry them) so I can relax in the bar and not worry at all

I've left a 7 iron on a tee before, having taken 2 clubs on to it. It was handed in that day (by a visitor to the club), and I picked it up the next day.

I ALWAYS hand anything in that I find, even if it's a good piece of kit, like a jacket, or a club that I could use. It's not my property, it's LOST property.

Shame on anyone that steals, cos that's what it is.

Good tip to leave a club on the flag if you're around the green. If you're on the tee, then best to leave it on a direct line to your bag.

Quite a few years ago my brother left his bag in the locker room at an open competition, there was literally nowhere else to leave the bags as we were getting picked up and had no car boot to put them in.

On his next round he took the headcover off his driver on the 1st tee to discover someone had swapped his 3 week old Callaway for an old duffer.

It is a sad reflection on society, i would confidently say that 99% of golf club members are honest to the core, but like someone else said, it only takes a few bad-uns to spoil the party for everyone

I left my pitching wedge on the edge of the green once. Discovered it missing when I got home and took the clubs out of the car boot.
Dashed back to the club just as it was starting to get dark. Wedge was not where I'd left it. I was hoping someone had handed it in.
Rang the clubhouse from the fairway (course in darkness and empty!)
Described the club to the lass on the phone and where I'd lost it. I was told that one had been handed in and was in the pro shop, but someone had reckoned it was his. Luckily he couldn't describe what club it was so the lady said she would leave the pro a message telling him it was mine.

Obviously very relieved, but I was very annoyed at the guy who tried to claim it. I never found out who he was but I would have had a few choice words to say to the dishonest get if I had known. Didn't think we had members like that at my club.

Just goes to show, you can't trust anyone these days.

How many people leave their clubs outside when they go in to submit their scorecards?

So far at my club I've found an umbrella, a sand wedge, car keys, and a wallet....and handed them all in. It may sound like lots of people losing things but I have been there 20 years.

I play at a private members club but very rarely ever leave my clubs unattended.

They get put in the car as soon as I finish. With a driver costing £250 these days and a Skycaddie in the hundreds I'd not take the risk. Luckily the car park is very close the the clubhouse so I can put them away and then put my card in.
