Hitting the pin

I thought if your putting on the green and have the flag in and hit it then it's a penalty, I ask as I see a player do it yesterday on the master also bubba was just putting from 15 ft with the pin left in and no it's was not attended.

Any idea ?

Are you sure he wasn't on the first cut of fringe as there is two different cuts round the greens

Must have been on the fringe. From some angles it can be hard to tell on the TV

It is 2 shot penalty, but as stated bubba was off the green.
