Hitting a fairway wood.

I have always seemed to struggle with the fairway woods. Either top them which is probably the most regular bad shot or when I do catch one it turns into a vicious slice.
Any idea what the fault is and any tips to improve. TIA.

If you are topping it that would suggest you're making contact before the club has bottomed out.
Rather than changing the arc, try moving the ball forward 2-3 inches and try and keep the head behind the ball

Different terminology.
At 40 secs he said shallow angle of attack will cause you to top it.
In my opinion that's wrong, that's a thin where you hit the ball half way up and the ball flies down the fairway about 3 feet off the ground.
Too steep a swing is a top where you hit down on the top of the ball and the ball bounces down the fairway.
