23 Years to late in my opinion, The police/ emergency services new what went on that dreadful day, Hope the families can now finally get closure, Terrible tragedy that could have so easily been avoided...... R I P the 96....
 
Decent article.
Compensation paid to traumatised policeman (many of whom did nothing) and not to families of the deceased is appauling and needs to be rectified. I wasn't ware of that.
Not sure what will come of this - prosecutions, compensation etc but the most important thing is an admittance of guilt from those responsible and a formal and sincere apology for their inaction, ineptitude, mistakes but moreso the cover-ups and slander that went on to cover their own backs.
 
I thought they may have got some findings from this but nothing like what has been uncovered!!

Must admit the findings come as no surprise to me. I have always assumed a cover up, just proving it was the problem. Couldn't believe that so many thousands of people there on the day, could be so wrong about what happened.

23 years to officially confirm what happened is 23 years too late.
 
the truth has finally been told,next step justice for the 96. everyone should stop filling the pockets of the murdochs after the sun's nasty 23 year's of hate towards the liverpool people,how many scousers still have sky tv and buy a murdoch paper,show solidarity to your fellow supporters and stop,and will liverpool fc now be refusing the money paid in by sky?
 
I can almost forgive gross incompetence. We all make mistakes.

But the lengths the police seem to have gone to to cover their own behinds is truly disgusting.
 
I've seen bits and pieces but not followed it too closely today. As it has been to have been a cover up, is it possible the police chief in charge on the day, government ministers and anyone else guilty of covering up will face charges now.
 
As a LFC fan I was sitting at home watching the events unfold on the TV. Today we took a huge step forward to getting justice for the victims and their families. It still haunts me now and probably always will but I feel nothing compared to those left behind to grieve.
Justice will now be served to those people but we will never forget those we lost on that day.

Anyone guilty of football violence in the 70's and 80's should also shoulder some blame for forcing fences to be erected at games. Pure scum.
 
What got me abut the blaming of LFC supporters was that they were just a crowd entering a ground. Some of us will remember a crowd leaving a ground and a disaster. Yes Ibrox. The actual cause was recognised by the authorities pretty quickly and nobody blamed the crowd who were leaving. What did they know about what was happening in front of them down Staircase 13 - what could they have done if they had known - nothing. Clearly Rangers supporters leaving Ibrox probably inadvertently contributed to the extent of the disaster - but nobody blamed them because they weren't to blame.
 
absolutely delighted the truth has finally come out. Hillsborough effected my family directly (cousin was unconciousbut survived and dads work mate was killed) so its always something close to my heart when watching things and reading things regarding it.

Everyone from liverpool which i was origonally, always knew the truth and what happened. But to the extent of this cover up was truly sickening to the core! What is also saddening is the fact that possibly 41 people may of still been alive/saved after that magic 3:15pm!

I really do hope to see some justice done now the real report is out. I know it wont feel like full retribution as nothing can replace the loss of a loved one but i feel it may help bring some familys that final piece of closure they have longed for! At the very least people should be looking at proverting the course of justice charges!

Also what would be nice is for the deceased def cert to be changed from accidental death to unlawful killing.
