Highs and Lows of 2010

Has to be winning the Jubilee Cup and winning an honours board event. Fortunately it was only 10 years since my name was in gold letters. To the winner the spoils





The lows would have to be the dose of the shanks I got mid-season including my worse EVER round (including as a beginner) and the weather now and in early January which stopped play

There's a bit of air brushing on there Homer ,Photoshop again .

Best 9 holes was the back 9 at Dundonald Links was +1 with a double on 17,had 36pts in tough conditions and was my first game in 6 weeks after my son got out of hospital.

Highs - Playing new courses with a new society that I joined and that includes Beau Desert with GM and enjoying the company of everyone at the events.

Getting my handicap down a couple of shots and keeping in front of my son.

My son getting a job straight out of university.

Low - Home course taking months to put in a buggy path that stopped me playing in competitions to get my handicap down when playing well.

Not been a bad year really, no point moaning about weather as there nothing we can do about it, but i agree would have been nice to play more!!

Highs - Having a Son(next westwood?), getting to 10, winning a Saturday comp shooting 75 gross, getting to the k/o singles matchplay final, playing Bruen for GC
lows - Losing the final of matchplay, persistant shoulder and elbow problems.

Highs...just to be able to get out there and play lots golf with lots of genuine people, some on this forum.

Lows...as far as golf in concerned, having to make the hardest decision ever to leave the first golf club I ever joined because of some not so genuine people.

Highs: Becoming a Cat 1 player, shooting level par for the first time, representing the scratch team.

Lows: Not playing enough, this year I must play more and maybe I'll come down even more.

Top moment - winning the club 4BBB matchplay knockout.
2 x 75s (no 74 this year ). Playing some great courses.

Lows

Completely forgetting all the swing work over the summer and then discovering things were worse than I could have feared at the GM Belfry "hit it further" day.

A bit of both. Gill Emmott went and so did Chrimbo.

I worked on my swing a good few times and played one game, then the snow started.

It'll be in the mag, and no doubt accompanied by pictures of my swing at it's worst ever. At least the mug shots shouldn't be too bad!

Highs:

The GM Castle Stuart weekend, England v Scotland forum meet at Goswick, finishing 2nd in the Order of Merit, winning 2 Monthly Medals. Great company all year round, played some memorable tracks.

Lows:

Competely losing the plot off the tee for most of the 2nd half of the season, failure to get the handicap down into the teens (three 40+ point comp wins all when course was non qualifying)

The GM Forum meet at Castle Stuart.
Ditching my MX200's and buying my Ping i15's.
Walton Heath versus Ping.
Forest Pines weekend.
Visiting Ping HQ.

Lows.....
Standing on the first tee at Spey Valley in the sleet. Despite desperately wanting to play the course, the thought that I had four hours ahead of me in those temperatures and conditions didn't fill me with excitement.
The Hever Open played in rain of biblical proportions.
Tennis fecking elbow.
Seeing a good guy cheated out of winning by a "mate" of mine.

I've only played twice since then & once was on a snow covered course this weekend.
I hit some iron shots miles, they'd hit the green and bounce 30yds through the back.
The other round was a level par 71 in the winter league. My partner & I finished 9 under for our 4BBB of 3/4 handicaps.

After my first year of golf.

Highs.

One mad week in June, Holing out from 170 yards for an eagle 2 and 6 points on our 18th and then just 6 days later playing with the same people, hitting a hole in one on our 145 yard 4th.

Lows

Having yet to brake 90, finding myself on the 18th tee having played the round of the year, one playing partner and good friend informs me I'am on 82. I therefore proceed to hit trees sand and water and finish with a 10. Thinking to myself why the hell have I taken up this daft sport.
