Can any recommend a high quality putting mat to use at home - something which I can practice for 20 minutes at home in the evenings etc

Got the PGA 9ft by 3ft in my livingroom. Really good and definitely helped my game.

Every-time I'm on the middle floor either going downstairs in the morning or nipping upstairs I hit 3 balls.

Good quality runs fast though. Good if you play somewhere with belfry like Greens, people always say they are no help for on the course which is complete #### as now when I am lining up a straight but I feel so much more confident knowing I have a repetitive putting stroke.

I have been looking at this one for a while mate.

These are a good idea. They help with practice and grooving a repeatable stroke but.........
HID will complain if it's in the way.

If it's in the garage, a spare bedroom or man cave then no problems. Keep it set up, ready to go whenever you get the urge.
If however it's in the lounge, kitchen or hallway, HID is going to moan so you have to keep puting it away and bringing it out every time you use it.

If you want to be sneaky you could suggest to HID that that floor could do with some protection. You dont want that expensive laminate flooring getting damaged or worn away so you could suggest some carpet tiles.

8 x 18" square for £3 each, you could create a nice 12" "green" that would be there permanently, HID would choose the colour/pattern obviously but you could chose the "stimp".

Try your hardest to make sure HID thinks it's his/her idea in the first place.
So, for under £25, you have a permanant putting mat that is indoors, warm, wont break the bank and HID is happy.
Win win win

The PGA (£30) one has mixed reviews on Amazon - does anyone know of any options between this and say a Huxley mat (£400)?

I went to a local carpet store and bought an end they were probably throwing out but put in a corner, 4 foot across by 12 foot long, rolled up under the stairs and rolled out whenever the mood takes me. Rolls similar speed to greens at my place. £5. Boom.

I got a cheap unbranded one a few weeks back, after asking a similar question on here. Definitely worth it, the extra bit of practice (10/15 mins per day) helps so much.

Word of warning though, if you do get one to practice indoors, make sure you remember to put the putter in your bag before going out for a game. Nothing like getting to the 1st green to realise you've left it at home.
