Just as my heart goes out to the victims of Hillsborough, today my heart goes out to those who died and those left behind at Heysel.

No one, regardless of which team they support, who was to blame, or what occured should ever leave home to go to a game of football and never come back. Not just Hillsborough or Heysel but Valley Parade, Ibrox, and others around the world

Totally agree. I was there as well as being at Hillsborough and the events of 29th May 1985 will live with me forever. The 39 people who lost their lives that night should never be forgotten.

Yes, you are right to draw attention to another appalling event in football - I hope that the lessons have all been learned

Unfortunately the events at Ibrox weren't fully understood nor were lessons learned and implemented. I remember that miserable evening back in 1971 so clearly listening on the radio to the news coming through from the ground.

I remember watching it unfold on tv as a youngster, an absolute tragedy.

Remembering this and similar tragedies at football grounds is a sharp reminder as to why modern stadia were required. Sure, there may be a loss of atmosphere, but supporters are a darned sight safer nowadays. It's a crying shame it took the loss of so many lives before authorities made football clubs act and build stadia fit for purpose.

RIP 39 fans.

A tragedy that could've been avoided had UEFA listened.

Nobody held accountable neither.

There were 23 fans convicted of Manslaughter, the stadium was a mess though and whoever allowed the game to go through should have been convicted too. We went on a visit as part of a school football tour and there where Holes in the wall that you could climb through!!

Correct but Uefa had ignored previous advice/concerns that the stadium was unfit to hold a football match.

Why did Uefa get away scot free? After all it was Their competition in a dilapidated stadium that they'd chosen the venue.
