Thanks to everyone for their comments.

Been down the range this weekend rather than playing a round.

Started with the grip. It felt a bit awkward at first, so I went into the attached AG and tried a training grip in the shop. Then went back out to the range. Occasional hook, but at least they had some height, occasional slice (to be expected when trying to get rid of the low hook that I had). But genereally had a fine draw, that was touching down between 200 and 230 yards. Also tried to not reverse pivot, but found that I was over thinking the shot, and it was robbing me of distance. But working on a 3/4 swing helped stop the left knee collapsing. Also tried opening my set up slightly, and this helped prevent the collapse.

I also went back to my old slightly more languid, relaxed swing, rather than trying to knock the skin off the ball. that also helped.

I have a works industry golf day on Thursday, we'll see if it all comes together then.

Anyway thanks for all the suggestions, I'll be incorporating them as I get more confident with the new grip.

Only thing with the football is that is isn't quite large enough to do the job properly. If it is any consolation Tesco and Sainsburys do them as well. If you cannot be seen in a supermarket or think it will give HID ideas about making you do the shopping I suggest a) nipping in on the way to/from work b) going in disguise or c) pretending it is for a family picnic

I go to Asda as myself! It's OK, you won't be mugged or feel embarrased once you get used to it.
They have some top bargains. I always enjoy packing my shopping into the boot of my Bentley Continental GT.

They do indeed have beach balls.....(in need to get one) and also sell very good glucose drinks in big bottles, some excellent chocolate covered honeycomb nuggets and super saver grass seed (which takes weeks to come through but is chav-proof).

The range of posh curries is worth a look too.

Not quite as good as Fortnum's though....
