I've purchased the Sony Ericsson W395 today and I'm trying to add my music to it. I've followed the instructions and I can see my new music files on the phone in the file manager

My problem is that I can neither see them in the Walkman part or select any of them as ringtones. Why???

They have been sent over as WMA - is that correct???

If no-one can help then I'll have to go back to Carphone Warehouse but it smelt aweful in there and it was hotter than the sun so I'm hoping someone on here can help......

I'm getting all wound up with the damn thing!!!

Someone at work stated that I'm too old for modern technology......

Help me please......

Thanks

Are you using some sort of Sony software?

t.b.h. I gave up using the Sony bundled software ages ago (on 3 Sony phones) and simply drag and drop to the correct locations on the memory stick.

I don't even use Media Manager (1.0 or 1.2) anymore.....
I just copy and dump.
:D

I certainly wouldn't have the media player "open"....I doubt it will work like itunes and an ipod in that respect.
Presuming you have plugged it in to the PC/Laptop via a USB cable, you should be able to "explore" files and sub-files at your leisure.
Firstly, have you installed the driver from the Sony Support website? (you don't need a driver to transfer files direct from any plug-in memory stick).....
You could try the Sony media manager program, but I never got it to work very well.
You will be able to access locations in/on the phone with a Sony product....unlike Motorola(!???)

One question though.....I rip using the MP3 mode within media player NOT the WMA mode. I do know that Sony Ericsson supports the Sony compression formats and .wav files and .mp3

It may not play WMA...my Sony mp3 player won't.

Someone??

You're a genius!!! I've switched Windows media player to rip in MP3 and it's worked!!!

Great work.

Thanks

That is great! :)

As I use Sony phones and a Sony Walkman, all my music is ripped in mp3 format.
One of the nice things is being able to buy mp3s (like singles) for my daughter and put them on her Walkman phone.
I do it by pulling out the Memory stick, and swapping files to and fro....I find it quicker than connecting the phone via usb.

I am pleased for you. Nice work!

Nice. If your Sony headphones have a joining plug (adapting the Sony widget to a normal 3.5mm headphone jack, you can always plug another set it.

Unfortunately not so I need to buy either the adaptor or a bluetooth headphone unit. That'll be another £30 then.........

No panic.
Tesco's sell some stereo heaphones in green packaging suitable for Sony and Nokia (2 adapters), if the widget on your phone is the same as mine/daughters Sony, you can use the adapter but not the headphones. The headphones might be OK, but for a few quid I doubt it.

or ebay?

as long as your phone fits the 2 pronged doobrie with the tiny spines any of these should work.
