For those considering coming along, I can report that Hankley was in absolutely magnificent condition when I walked it yesterday. It has many great holes…with lots of dog-leg par 4s and cracking par 3s - though you really have to keep on the short stuff as best you can. That said they do generally make sure that there is plenty of that as the fairways are pretty wide but beware the fairway bunkering and the heather lurking in full sight…

Honestly yesterday walking on the fairways was, quite literally, like walking on a green Axminster carpet…it was frankly incredible. I don’t think I have ever walked such fairways, even when I played it last year. And it’s not ten minutes from my front door. Pity the cost of membership and likely waiting list.

Unfortunately not.

Mrs d has badly injured her back and I've left everything, to as late as possible, in the hope that it will clear up and then I'd be able to play. I can leave her for enough time for a round of golf at my home club, but H4H is far too long in her current state given the travel time involved to and from the course.
