Hello everybody,

A month ago I started working at a golf club, behind the bar in the club house. After talking with the pro and a few golfers in the bar, I started getting an itch.

I bought this months copy of GM to see what the crack was, and remembered my girlfriends father was into golf.

So today I bit the bullet and had my first experience of a golf course, after whacking balls up the field in my youth, and driving ranges in my late teens, here i was.

The course was just a short 9-hole one, par 3 on all (one of which I managed! Plenty of slicing and miss hitting, but towards the 8th and 9th I was starting to get the ball off of the floor at the drive :P

So thoroughly bitten, and ready to embrace the sport. I've been offered a nice set of Ping i3's (not too sure the specific model) which the pro lends out odd, on occasion.

I look forward to reading through peoples forum posts.

Gordon.

Welcome.

My recommendation would be to get a few lessons and learn the basics at it will make the game a bit easier. If you can maintain the fundamentals you should have a solid foundation throughout your golfing life.

Enjoy the game and the forum

Welcome to the most gloriously infuriating game you'l ever play!! Get ready to be bouncing off the ceiling one minute, wanting to throw your bag in the pond the next and back again!

Welcome Clart.....

I started on a 9 hole par 3.....I went round in 97 i.i.r.c.

(is that 70 over par for 9 ?!!)

It gets easier and better....I was addicted within minutes.
