As with most hayfever sufferers the season of bunged up noses and faces watering has started.
I had my worst nights sleep last night for years, can't of had more than 2 hours kip.... now i'm off to play a medal off the blues. :mmm:

Any fellow hayfever sufferers feel the bite of our ridiculous allergy last night?

Not yet, but I can feel it lurking in the background. Trying not to take the medication as it makes me drowsy, but looking at the pollen count for today, I think drowsy is better than "lying in clubhouse with icepack over eyes to reduce the swelling"...

I used to suffer badly when I lived in Wilts.
I moved to Ayrshire and it stopped....weird!
I live in the country and my house is surrounded by sheep grazings.

I suppose you have heard the old remedy of taking local honey...seems to work for some [or it could be all in the head.]

Hayfever seems to be a strange allergy. I had never suffered with it until June 15th 2003. I know the exact day as it was my Wedding Day. Since then, I've fluctuated between really bad years, and almost non-existent years. There appears to be a unproven theory that states that Hayfever is cyclical and can be measured in approximate 7 year cycles. Personally, I just hope that this year is a "down" year.....

i think due to the late spring the prediction bad for hayfever sufferers. i have a doctors appointment for tomorrow, tablets and nasel spray normally sorts it.

good luck

I suffer from the early tree pollen so I got mine out the way in that first warm spell we had in April/May. Not so bad now but I still suffer a tiny bit.

I used to be a sufferer and you'll not find many more ridiculous "cures" than what I do; pull out a flowering grass stem and chew the base of it. I'm sure it's got nothing to do with my not suffering much now but I still do it!

I used to suffer really bad when I was a kid, eyes would puff up like boiled eggs, suffered alot as an adult until a few years ago and it just stopped, not had any bother since.

Never really had the runny nose, it was always the itchy eyes for me. I found that a smear of vaseline under the eyes helped that and a good anti-histamine.

Well I'm broken. I'm not one for being sick....but I'm sick. Just sat here I feel light headed and dizzy. Cant breath through my nose and feel space caked from the Hayfever tablets. I havent called in sick for work in over 5 years, but If I feel like this in the morning I may consider it.

Never had hayfever until I stopped playing cricket in around 2003. Then started getting itchy eyes during early spring due to tree pollen. A simple tablet a day works for me without drowsiness.

I started taking anti-histamine's in march to try to build up my system and upto now I've not suffered. I do wear glasses whilst playing golf though and they definitely help.

Ive suffered problems with my sinuses for years and hayfever was always a problem.

Not had it this year and i dont know if its all down to me doing sinus rinses for the past year.

Look up 'neti pot' and have a read about them certainly helped me!!

Thankfully it seems to be something I have grown out of, through my teens and 20s it used to floor me, now it only seems to bother me maybe 2 or 3 times a year

Ive had it every year for as long as I remember. When I was a kid I used to look I had been ""beaten" every morning when I went to school! :( I love being outdoors play loads of sport and when the sun shines you dont want to be hiding in doors surrounded by snot rags, streaming and miserable!

Nowadays I take a nasal spray and anti histamine every morning which helps a little, rub a little vaseline around your nose to catch the pollen but I still feel like Im all blocked up and wheezy for most of the summer. Last year I took some steroids over a short period of time which was good but doctors are reluctant to prescribe them. Also they used to prescribe an annual jab which works for some. Good luck to all.
