Have you ever been on TV

I have done two or three golf interviews, my first one was hilarious as the reporter was a rookie and kept on making mistakes.
We had so many re-runs that any nerves I had just disappeared.

I've been on a couple of football quiz shows on digital channels - both channels are now defunct, which says everything about my TV career :mmm:

First one was a programme called Quizball hosted by Paul Cooney on Sky Scottish back in 1998 - it was an individual quiz and the winner stayed on to the next show - In the first one I was up against a Hearts fan who had won seven shows on the bounce - i beat him on the last question of the buzzer round which ended each episode - I won three more before getting beaten by Patrick Thistle's programme editor, who I still see when we play them - It was filmed in Glasgow and my wife and kids came along to watch - the kids were 13 and 11 then and both loved it as the researchers made a big fuss of us. They also enjoyed spending the £400 of vouchers I got for one of the big sports shop chains as a prize.

The second one was on ITV digital and was a team quiz show called 'Do I not know that' hosted by Simon O'Brien - we went to Manchester three times to film it as it was played in a group format - highlight was beating Dundee United on the last question and their team having to share a bus back north with us, Wimbledon won the whole comp - they were the ones who hadn't spent the Saturday night before Sunday filming in the hotel bar.

I'm also regularly on STV/BBC Scotland when Dundee sign a player as they use footage of photographers taking pics of the player to cut into their interview/story - That impressed my day job colleagues when I first started at my current company.

A couple of interviews a good few years ago for Top Gear: with JC at Buntingthorpe - got paid a fee and he bought the beer; so not all bad. Some Radio 4 interviews, which don't count I guess.

My late father and I were contestants on "Today's the Day" a quiz show with Martyn Lewis the newsreader, which ran from about 1993-1999 we were on in 98
We had the highest ever first round score and easily won our edition, but as it was the last show before the semi finals we couldn't progress further as other teams had already won 4 or 5 shows.

We was robbed

Still got the trophy and a vhs recording of the show somewhere

I have never been asked for an autograph :(

I've been on screen on numerous occasions at the football, you couldn't actually pick me out, but I was defenitely in the shots along with loads of others you wouldn't be able to pick out..........

A few TV quiz shows and The Krypton Factor. In fact, if someone could help me get down off the high-wire. It's been 24 years now and I don't think Gordon Burns is coming back to help.

I was going into the Guild Hall in Preston to watch the UK Snooker Championships. Was a little late so in a bit of a rush and as we approached the entrance a couple of guys suddenly turned around, one said "just a quick one for the BBC", stuck the mic under my nose and his mate stuck a camera in my face and fired off loads of questions about Alex Higgins head butting a tournament official the previous evening. I vaguely recognised him from Look North West where I thought it may make the local sports bulletin. Oh no, it was on the 6 o'clock news as it developed into a major sports story......it was the 1980's when snooker was very big I suppose. The lady in the bank the following day said "You were on TV last night"......my 15 seconds of fame!!

Slightly O/T but I recall giving a live radio golf playing lesson once. [imagine that]
The reporter was doing a 'get into sport' series and had a reputation as a bit of a comic.

The pro and I mercilessly extracted the urine with 'incidents' such as killing a goose with a wayward shot etc.
The Station said the live lines went mad.
Half with folk saying how funny it was and half complaining about the 'dead goose'.

There was a terrible 1 series drama on BBC1 in the nineties called "Trainer" it was filmed where i lived and the pub in it was actually my wifes now home! I was in it about 4 times with the wifes big bro! Funnily enough, it didnt get second series, nor is it available online or DVD!

Appeared on Channel 4 racing a number of times as part of a syndicate who owned a horse called Dream Alliance. He won the Welsh Grand National and ran in the Grand National itself.

He has a great back story and a documentary film was made about him (Dark Horse - the incredible true story of Dream Alliance), which had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January this year. It won the World Documentary Audience Award at the festival.

I got to see the film at the official UK premiere in April and I do appear in it briefly on a few occasions. Its now out on DVD. Well worth a watch :D. I believe that it will be shown on Channel 4 next year and I expect that it will be in the week prior to the Grand National.

Just google Dream Alliance if you want to read the story. The Telegraph probably has the most accurate pieces.

Nice one! I'm pretty sure Mark Kermode gave that film a very good review on the Mayo/Kermode wittertainment show. I do remember listening to his review and thinking that sounds like a good one to watch when it comes on TV so I'll look out for it. When you know it's on please post it on here to remind me.

As for my TV appearances then i was on TV fleetingly every 3 minutes for the highlights of the milk race round Nottingham city centre the other year. As I was stood directly next to the finish line and was in shot every time they lapped the route. Plus unbeknownst to me as I had to be told about it the next day as someone recognised her, my daughter was on in the Pride of Britain awards on ITV the other week. She had been filmed cheering my mate on in a triathlon, but there was some chap up for a pride award who was also in the triathlon, and they made it look like she was cheering for him.
