Has anyone used the callaway hex black ball ?

I noticed you get a dozen free when you subscribe, also i got one free from the golf show but have not tried it yet, So are they any good ?

I had 3 free to try, liked them a lot, shame I lost them all too quickly, felt great around the green and putting. Unfortunately I am too pants off the tee for premium balls hence lost them

Yes i read that as long as they are a good ball i wont worry too much about how many rounds they last.

Very nice feel but as beck9965 has said they seem to scuff up a lot more than a Pro V

Not tried any yet. Craw - are they any softer than the Tour is? I still find the is to be a bit rock like.

Tried them was slightly impressed then went back to prov. If the hx tour (blue one) from a few years ago was stil available i'd have them in a shot - Callaway not come close since.
Re the Black - it is astonishing how something so clicky (not bad but it is!) scuffs up quite so easily:mmm:

Have tried the callaway and to be honest I don't like it feels clicky and quiet firm around the green compared to the pro v1. I subscribed to GM a day b4 they offered the 12 callaway ballS so got 12 srixon z stars which I also prefer. Do have 6 new callaway hex balls still in the garage but doubt I will use them.

Genuine question, but please excuse my stupidity. Whats to stop the use of a ball that doesn't scuff so easily from tee to green, then the use of the Hex one on the green for putting if they are that good? Is there any rule against it?

Unless a ball is lost or damaged it can not be replaced without a penalty

I use the Penta ball but I tried the Callaway, was quite impressed with it. If I didn't have 5 doz Pentas in the house I would consider switching.

I thought it was very soft, especially off the putter, when I showed my playing partner he thought the same

I too believe it's the best ball Callaway have produced.

I was never keen on the clickiness of Callaways, but this is definitely not. Great distance off the Driver and loads of spin (which I need) on wedges. Nice to put with too. Had one last 4-5 rounds and while a tad beaten up, it didn't show scrape marks. Path/rock/tree scrapes do show however and they still don't float!

Only downside is the price, but as the balls I play tend to be pickups, I encourage everybody to use them!

Pentas still the standard for me, but will play this ball at every opportunity.

I normally use the Callaway Tour I's and picked up 3 x Black's as a free offer. Liked hem straight away. Soft around green, good response off the wedge and no lack of distance off the tee

I think they scuff worse than the Tour I s though


May pick some more up when my stock of I's runs out - or pick up a deal on teh outgoing model

Nope,still like a brick,there are umpteen better balls on the market than this latest callaway bucky.
