Just working on a Christmas present to myself and have decided to do a play and stay at Harlech and Aberdovey as I haven't played either. I know it's a bit subjective but I am canvassing opinions as to which course is better. The reason is I need to decide which clubs Dormy house to use and where to take up a day ticket as opposed to a single round. Really appreciate any feedback.

Played them both a couple of years ago as part of an open played between the two of them. Played Aberdovey first in bright sunshine really liked the course although quite flat nice club house and had a warm welcome.

Played Harlech the next day in a Gale found it very tough but it's a great course and thats the one I would get a day ticket for. You have also got to think about traveling, Aberdovey is a fair distance away so would you like that drive after a couple of rounds.

If it was me i would be driving to Aberdovey play a round drive to Harlech stay over night and play the next day. that would make you trip home shorter too

i played Aberdovey last May and really enjoyed it there, if you PM me your email address i have a couple of pictures of the course i took, if your interested.

Interesting reading! I am staying in aberdovey next august and looking for a couple of rounds! Is. Nefyn worth a drive? Better than st davids (harlech?)?

According to the rankings the best courses in Wales are as follows.
1)Royal Porthcawl
2)Royal St Davids (Harlech)
3)Aberdovey
4)Twenty 10
5)Nefyn

just before the summer we played Aberdovey, Royal St Davids and Nefyn.

The order i would put them in would be :

1st Aberdovey (real old school links course)
2nd Nefyn Old (just for the back 9 out on the point was stunning) front 9 not bad either
3rd Royal St Davids (good links) but didnt think as good as Aberdovey

St. Davids is very good, but Nefyn is mad. Fantastic few holes on the peninsula, but if windy, can be a lottery. St.Davids is more sheltered though, and you dont really see the sea, unless you climb the ladder on the 16th tee.
