Ive asked for the price what people would pay for a round of golf & many would be happy paying between 100 to 200 pounds for a round, I'm just wondering if there as to be some standard of golf (low handycap) to get on the course

Many will allow anyone on.
Many require you to at least have a handicap
Some will only let handicaps of 24 or below on.
Some - like Queenwood - won't let anyone on.....

It depends where it is and how much you want to play it. I think the West Course at Wentworth is something like £300 and a caddy is mandatory. Is it on your must play list? There are loads of course I'd love to play in Britain and Ireland but could I really justify some of the costs. Not really.

I dont really follow the exact meaning of your post.

Who did you ask for the price?
What people?
Happy paying £100/200 for a round. Not unless it was a somewhere very very special.
Regarding the handicap to play. What course are you referring to?

I'm not one of those many people. It would have to be a very special occasion and a very special course for me to even consider spending that. When you think about it, £200 is an insane amount of money for 18 holes of golf.

sorry the price was another post on what some people would pay ,,some was saying thats what they have payed for a round of golf ,,which got me thinking would these expensive golf courses let just anyone on if they can pay the price

Paying over £100 is reserved for very few courses. Personally these would all have to be brilliant links courses such as Birkdale, Royal Portrush or Waterville. Wentworth's price tag is a joke though. I have nver been asked for my handicap certificate when palying a new course yet. Maybe I look trustworty or is it that money talks and cash in the till overrides the need to see the cetificate?

I agree with captain iron - I have played quite a few of the to-ranked courses - Woodhll Spa was the only time we were asked for handicap certs - although St Andrews Old may also of asked but i can't quite remember in all the excitement! Wentworth West was £360 peak (1 June - 31 Oct) in 2011 - only £195 at the moment!! It is a nice course but way overpriced and not worth the money - go walk it when the comps are on and then go and play somewhere better such as Woking, Hankley Common, The Berkshire, Swinley Forest, Hindhead, Liphook, Woking, Worplesdon, St George's Hill, West Hill or Blackmoor! In fact, you could play a fair chunk of them for 1 round on the West.

Both Wentworth and Sunningdale asked for handicap certificates when I played there, otherwise I've never been asked
